Wwell, Taniguchi was something. Born in 1947, he was a real fan of european comics. And this relation wasn't one-sided, because he was beloved in europe and particulary where i'm writting this comment, in France. He is considered to be the most occidental mangaka, but just by reading his manga it's obvious that he's also deeply japanese. Taniguchi, and his beautiful drawing-techniques, touched my heart with his famous slow rythm Manga. But during his long career, he has drawn a lot of diffrent manga style, each as good as the most famous. I won't explain here why i think taniguchi reached the perfection with his Art, because Taniguchi's manga is something to feel more than to talk about. There's two reasons why i wrote this. First of all, for people that didn't read any Taniguchi's manga yet. Please let him a chance, reading some Taniguchi was a growing experience for me but also something very special, and unforgettable. Then just to pay tribute to this Artist that i really love and who carried his art away from everything else. I won't ever heard about a new manga by Taniguchi that is just about to be released. But that's ok, because i'll never forget how i felt, just reading his manga. |

For those who speak German, here's a cool documentary in which Jiro Taniguchi discusses his work. https://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=4F80609E0E2D7DA5 |

I think his style is so unique and works so well as a comic. An adaptation would certainly lose some of the charm. I think his collaborations would work well as adaptations, though. His non-solo work like Summit of the Gods, Hotel Harbor View, Benkei in New York, etc. |

That didn't work for me for some reason, thanks!I wish Taniguchi was more popular. What do you think about possible adaptions of his works? |
Danish | Nov 2, 2014 8:37 AM
I searched the synonym "Ka" and found it and added it to the relations. |
Nidhoeggr | Nov 2, 2014 8:29 AM
Lol, ok. Time to add some manga then. Since I got to be a mod without my consent for it, I better work to make up :DIt's a shame there are no people's relations for clubs, though... PS: Done, I improved the description and added more manga. I can't add K though, because apprently you need to type in two letters to add a manga to the relations... Does anyone know a workaround to that? |

Nidhoeggr, I made you an admin for the club. |

Many of his manga are missing ont he club relations, a shame. In other news, I recently finished the book Sensei no Kaban and am about to read Taniguchi's adaption. I am excited because this is the first time I can actually compare the source to one of his manga with his output. |

Yeah, you can add titles to the database through this link. http://myanimelist.net/panel.php?go=mangadb&do=add I'm reading A Zoo in Winter right now. It has that signature elegant melancholy of Taniguchi. It's very beautiful. |

Can it be that Jiken Ya Kagyou - Trouble is my Business is not in the DB? I bought it recently but I couldn't find it among any of Taniguchi's works in the DB. |

Yep, the way you say this sound better, maybe I can say this so nicely, beacuse, I have rarely occasion to speak or write in english. But that exactly what I meant.ps. wow I just bought "Mon année: Im' really looking up for this. |

Heh, that's a pompous way of saying it but yeah, I know what you mean and I have to agree. Taniguchi certainly isn't for everyone. His manga deal with a lot more serious and mature topics and themes. |
M_Hawk | Jun 27, 2010 3:51 PM
Well Taniguchi is not very popular... I think - he's to inteligent, for most people. But I'm glad, that I once found his manga in my nearest comix shop :] |

Wonderful slices of life where the protagonist still have a soul and see the world with some (melancholic) enchantment.I'm eagerly waiting for the next release in my mothertongue. I just LOVE how some shounen series were a big market flunk over here while Tezuka and Taniguchi sell like sweet buns :) |
