Sakaki Yuuya is the main protagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. He is a born-entertainer who attends the You Show Duel School to advance his duelling expertise and become an "Entertainment Duellist," a specific type of professional duellist similar to his father.
A fun-loving and energetic boy, Yuya is very theatrical and loves to entertain people, traits he seems to inherited from his father (adoptive actually), Yusho Sakaki. He idolized and loved his father very much and wishes to become an entertainer like him one day. After his father disappeared during an important match, Yuya was left heartbroken and traumatized by the event because his beloved father was labeled as a "coward". Because of this, he acts like a fool merely to beat people for insulting him about his father disappearing.
Yuya has a habit of putting his goggles over his eyes when he is either upset or embarrassed, something he did since he was young. When Yuya Duels, he announces "Ladies and gentlemen!" when he is about to perform a finishing move.
Yuya believes that dueling is for the purpose of making people happy, and he is disgusted when it is used for war. As a spectator, he will protest against any duel conducted with violence, hatred and/or anger. However, confrontations with his dimensional counterparts and learning about the four dimensions as well as the crisis between them start making him doubt his ability to entertain people with dueling. He can be charismatic in his own way, mainly due to his kindness, generosity, determination, and philosophy as Entertainment Duelist that both directly and indirectly influence others. His strong attachment and loyalty to those he cares for and staying true to his belief also managed to turn a lot of people into friends and admirers. While some of his enemies may sees this trait as naivety, some also respect his determination as a fellow Duelist.
He has three known dimensional counterparts: Yuuto (from the Xyz Dimension), Yuugo (from the Synchro Dimension), and Yuuri (from the Fusion Dimension). According to Yuzu, he and his counterparts are drawn to each other. He later became one of the Lancers that Reiji Akaba established, in order to defend the invasion from Academia in the Fusion Dimension.
In the manga, Yuuya is an amnesiac mysterious Entertainment Duelist known as "The Phantom" who had hacked into Leo Corporation's Solid Vision with mass system and used it for his own purpose. His goal is to find a card called "Genesis Omega Dragon", a card that is said to be capable of destroying the world for whoever has it. He has three other personalities inside him: the Xyz Duelist Yuuto, the Fusion Duelist Yuuri, and the Synchro Duelist Yuugo.
