Hyougo Misogiya (三十木谷 兵吾)Hinata and Kaoru's grandfather. His wife died 7 years ago. He and his daughters are responsible for managing the mountain. He prevents people from entering the off-limits areas of the mountain, and isn't very nice to his grandchildren, who use it as their playground. He knows of the existence of Yamatagi, but only from the Misogiya family records. Luckily for him, he doesn't have much of a psychic sense, so he's only ever felt an unsettling presence. Despite having lived in the mountains for years, that was the first time that he ever encountered the monster.He's somewhat stubborn when it comes to matters regarding the mountain, but it's only to keep his family away from danger. He's not the kind of obstinate old man who can't be bothered to handle things; having a foreigner for a daughter-in-law, he doesn't mind taking care of Kaoru.
