Anime that don't focus on a cast of mainly children
This list is for personal reference and to throw at friends when this conversation comes up.
I've been reading and catching up with the BNHA manga recently and everything about it is decent... except for the fact that they're all high schoolers. Which is clearly to appeal to the main audience of shounen, but sometimes I just want a good thrilling series that doesn't center on a bunch of kids getting thrown into chaos. So here's my list for keeping track of these.
Notes:
- Since I'm posting this list publicly: Yes, I know shounen and seinen are different genres that exist, but the characters of a particular genre don't always have to be the same age as the target audience, and there are shounen series with majority adult casts.
- This is an action/thrills focused list, so you won't be finding Kuragehime and such on here. Some might lean a lot more towards thrills than action. A few have no action but are thrilling/riveting enough that I included them.
- This list only includes anime I've seen. This is also based on the anime of these series, and not the manga.
- Be Warned. This list isn't exclusive to good anime. But a lot of these happen to be good anime.
ACCA 13 (Lotta is a minor but there is 0 action, just thrills)

Bungou Stray Dogs
Primary and/or Secondary Main Character is a minor, but the rest of the main cast consists of adults. Any additional child characters aren't very involved in action/violence:
Arslan Senki (I almost forgot Arslan is 14...)
Golden Kamuy (Asirpa is implied to be under 18 but does not have a confirmed age)
Kokkoku (the younger brother Makoto)
Vinland Saga (Thorfinn)
Primary and/or Secondary Main Character is a minor, but the rest of the main cast consists of adults. Some additional child characters get caught in the action/vioence and have it pretty rough:
Full Metal Alchemist (Ed and Al)
Tate no Yuusha (Raphtalia and Filo)
