you have to keep watching it before it gets good

i've heard this comment so many times about a terrible anime.
oh, the first few episodes are bad/slow/filler/not important. you have to keep watching it before it gets good.
why?
why the fuck should i keep watching it in the hopes of it getting good if i'm constantly disappointed by a worse outcome and diminishing returns?
no.
if someone didn't bother making the plot and characterization good enough that it captures your attention immediately and then keeps it, they don't deserve the benefit of a doubt.
if i can watch something that doesn't suck from the start, why should i have to endure something that starts out sucking and then maybe will get better?

On shitty anime
Why do you defend lousy anime, terrible characters, plot elements that seem not out of place in a mental patient's manifesto?
Did they ever teach you drama, literature, creative writing and the sort in school?
Do you not realize that shit can't just happen because the director deemed it so or that you want it to happen without the proper set up and explanation? It's called exposition.
Just because the anime appeals to some fetish you have and you want to be/fuck the characters doesn't make it high art.
Anime can be good.
Staggeringly good.
Or it can just be "Japanese cartoons."
And you illiterate mouth breathing fuckers make it the latter.
