So anime is just another way of sending a
message or telling a story. They can be
grounded heavily in reality or have the
kind of weird metaphysical fantasy you
only see in certain indie films. It's another
medium for ideas, no different than books
or movies.
There are perverted and childish shows,
just like there are perverted and childish
books, films, stories you tell your friends,
etc. You can't pick one thing from a
medium and decide that is what it is all
about
If you see something that really effects
you, regardless of what it is, it becomes
important to you. And for many people,
they are really effected by anime.
I have not seen a love story more
adorable than Eureka 7. I have not seen
someone as enthusiastc as Kamina. I have
not seen a man sacrifice for others like
Itachi Uchiha. I have not seen a person
turn into a monster like Light Yagami. I
have not seen a romance more
dysfunctional than Future Diary.
I haven't seen a mastermind like Lelouch
Lamperouge. I haven't seen a colder
human being than Balalaika. I haven't
seen a cast as varied or memorable as the
mages of Fairy Tail. I have never seen
someone cooler than Spike Speigel. And I
have never seen someone admit they
were nothing but a flawed, broken person
like Edward Elric.
So show me where I can find THAT. Then
you can tell me why anime is a waste of
my time.
