Pleasan Surprise
Canaan;
Yet another anime I've found myself drawn into based solely upon what I found to be an interesting idea, or in this case, ability. Having no expectations for this, I was pleasant surprised to find myself enjoying this short, and somewhat superficial, path into the darkness of the human heart. Revenge, loss, betrayal, despair, all are feelings every human learns to cope with, however for those whom possess power and extraordinary ability, such things often lead to both the destruction of yourself and those around you. Canaan offers no answers to these hard-to-face situations, nor does it try to give them a deep meaning, instead to show them for what they truly are. Both beautiful and hideous in their ordinary frequency; it takes surprisingly little for the human heart to shatter and give into temptation. The characters are neither amazing, nor are they horrible; they are seen as ordinary humans (some with extraordinary powers) trying to live their lives. Don't expect deep meaningful drama and characterization, instead watch this as a tale of life, love, death, despair, and those whom live it.

Anime I've Seen Lately
Chaos Head;
An interesting concept with great potential psychological paths that ultimately failed to do anything except bore the watcher. Don't misunderstand, I found some of the ideas fascinating to think about and yet CH managed to do so little with it, and what it DID have was horrible to the point that I would have preferred a nonsensical Yaoi love story than the shit this anime tried to shovel in our throats. The characters are one dimensional at best, utterly failing to have even a remote sense of personality or feeling to them; instead the viewer is left to watch these admittedly pretty hollow-shelled creations whine and spout their nonsensical anguish to the world that has wronged them. All the while, we the viewers, are in far more pain than these pretty sketches could ever comprehend; the pain of boredom and apathy. The pretty visuals were decent, and only the desire to see these poor stereotype-adaptations of characters meet their painful end kept me from making this the first anime I'd ever fully drop. In the end, CH even failed to do this.
