Tamala 2010: Adorable but a major exercise in active viewership. Had to rewind a few parts for clarity and literally fell asleep during the long talk part. Still, adorable. The way she says 'fuck' makes me :3

Big O: Great show. Underrated perhaps. Suffered from the bad-guy-a-day-before-returning-to-status-quo disease but did have significant developments for progress and keep me looking for more. Too bad it was only getting to the juicy parts before the transition to the next season. Hmph.

What's the point of telling people not to smoke when Touko, the coolest looking chick in the show, is an obvious pack-a-day?

Also, major improvement from the previous two episodes. The pace is just right, the guest of the show of acceptable standard, and the shows keeps to what it is: a simple tale about murderers. Looks like there's hope in the series after all.

Next episode looks like one with character development! More background on the main characters will definitely be nice.

I was expecting something good from this show but it appears that the protagonists don't really act their age. Maybe it's just me.

Regardless, I've dropped the show because it doesn't look like the relationship is going to improve, and for a good reason too (Ryoko's social status in comparison to Junichirou's); still, they didn't have to add in those corny 'I won't let you die' things, did they :P

The detective work isn't impressive either, mostly because Ryoko seems to anticipate everything and anything. She's too smart for this show. She needs to get into the X-files.

I'm not much of a S. Haruhi fan but I find this whole phenomenon of an alternate universe with inverted genders breeding an entire fandom of its own to be particularly intriguing.

SHnY is indubitably a tale garnered towards the male fans with its parody of idolization and archetypes observed by a down-to-earth protagonist at the center of it all, and was rather entertaining despite its rather empty characters, but think of the possibilities when everyone switches genders! As a change we get a down-to-earth female (a character type I have yet to be seen portrayed well in anime) at the center of it all; all the sexual tensions, behaviours and jokes would have to be reversed, and with Haruhi as a guy, so will the supernatural occurrences and eventual conclusion.

The possibility of writing fanfiction based on this alternate universe is greatly positive. It will be a very interesting experiment indeed, especially when it comes to developing Kyon who sets the mood of the entire show.

After much thought, I have come to realise that I am a fan of atmospheric anime, much like how I'm a bigger fan of A Perfect Circle, White Pony Deftones/Team Sleep, Mogwai, Sigur Ros compared to more neutral choices like Dave Matthew's Band and Radiohead.

Atmospheric anime uses visuals and sound, the setting of the anime, to set the mood of a show, contrasted with neutral anime with a balanced atmosphere in which action and dialogue set the mood (Oh! Edo Rocket, (insert random popular anime)). This group includes mostly dark, especially vibrant and most abstract anime.

Anime in this subset include: Boogiepop Phantom, Dead Leaves, Ghost in the Shell, Kigeki, Mononoke, Mushishi, Lain and The Animatrix.
