I want to know your genuine thoughts about Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation as a whole, and your personal opinion on Mushoku Tensei. Should it or should it not be anime of the year and why?

The next part of this will be my opinion, and my thoughts on not only the anime, but whether or not it deserves to be anime of the year.

I think that we can all agree that 2021 was an amazing year for anime. Plenty of new and interesting titles came into fruition, and many preexisting titles came back and better than ever (Except for TTIGRAAS). Among those anime, there were a few controversial ones such as Redo of a Healer, Nagatoro-san, and Mushoku Tensei.
I, personally, am in love with this series and I've been a follower ever since the second episode of the first season. Immediately, I knew that this anime was going to be something special, so without looking at any other information, at the end of episode two, I went to Amazon and bought all of the light novels because I had that much faith in the series by episode two. I'm happy to say that my gut feeling was right.

This anime has everything that you could possibly want in an isekai and a regular anime, but it seems that a lot of people don't view it that way. I'll be diving into Mushoku Tensei's controversial topics and giving my take on why they're actually good for the series.

First, let's start off with the elephant in the room: The horny. I'm sure everyone who's seen the first episode of Mushoku Tensei knows what I'm referring to. The anime has an abundant amount of sexual activity and tension with the characters, but I think that this makes the story strong, powerful, and most importantly, realistic. The setting is a medieval, pre industrialization era where people didn't have much to do other than work and start a family. Obviously there were pubs and I'm sure that there are theatre performances, but other than that, nothing seriously entertaining for adults. This fact is amplified if you live in the boonies like Paul and his family. There are no bars, no gladiator arenas, and no theatres. So, if you're in your early 20's living with your beautiful wife, and there's nothing to do, what do you do? Bake, talk, go for a walk, and you do the deed. Most couples in there 20's that are living together are doing it on a consistent basis even now where we have TV and other forms of entertainment. It's just the thing to do when you're in love. So back then, it makes sense that the two of them would go at it night after night. Other than that, let's talk about Roxy and Lilia. The other two horny characters. Being horny is natural part of life. I love how the author talks about this in his recent interview. Go check it out if you haven't already. I appreciate the author making the setting realistic. If you hear a young couple go at it like that all the time, you're sure to get horny at some point in time. Again, I love of this show doesn't shy away from this fact and tries to make it seem like everyone is just a Jesus-loving, perfect, beacon of morality that never has urges.. ever, and instead resort to just hand-holding to fulfil their wants and desires.

Next is the character Rudeus. He is a flawed character, and that's exactly what makes him the best Mc of 2021. Hands down. I love the fact that the author made a character that isn't a white-knight saint that's so sickeningly good, it makes you wonder if he's God incarnate. He's not your stereotypical mc that's good looking, intelligent, and has amazing social skills to boot. He's just a scummy adult that got a second chance at life. He's not perfect. Far from it, and he will never be perfect. He is the most human character that I've seen in ALL of anime. It's a shame that people take things at face value and don't think about why he is the way he is. Why he's written the way he's written. The same goes for all the characters. Rudy, Paul, Eris, Ruijerd, all these characters are flawed and have done bad things, but that doesn't mean they're bad people. They're just people. We all have our flaws, and so do they.

I think this anime is the best of the year. Better than Aot, better than Nagatoro, better than Komi, and better than Redo. I implore that you watch the series if you haven't already, and if you want to know more, check out the Author's interview about Mushoku Tensei for more details.
