I found Monster vol. 3 for $12 on Amazon so I snatched it up. I really enjoy this title so far -- the action and information is rapidly presented in a very consistent, fast-moving manner throughout the first two volumes (so far -- I haven't finished vol. 2 yet, but what I've read so far is amazing). I'm thinking of putting The Drifting Classroom on hold for awhile and just diving into Monster -- Classroom is starting to lag, but I still have high hopes for it. I will have to watch out for Monster on Amazon and eBay and get 'em for cheap. It's so much easier to accomplish with books than toys -- especially manga books, because most used booksellers do not sell their books at crazy aftermarket prices, often selling them for half or less of the cover price.

Fall reading list:

On my last reading list for a while, I've got MW waiting for me on my birthday <3 as well as The Drifting Classroom vol.6 and Monster vol. 3... not to mention that massive Speed Racer set I got for <$5. The presentation is really phenomenal. I'm looking forward to reading it, but from what I've read about them, they're supposed to be pretty short, basic adventure stories. It's very difficult to get any help from a review about manga on the internet. 12 year olds read the same crap adults read, and post their reviews in the same places the adults do. It's very frustrating.

All right, the following titles are currently en route:

(I also have a birthday present on the way, but I'm waiting until my actual birthday to acknowledge it ^_~)

The Drifting Classroom's momentum hasn't slowed down yet, and it's been fun having an actual series to follow. I've never actually finished a series that's more than three volumes before. I know it's a ways off, but I'm starting to wonder which series to start after I complete Classroom... I'm thinking either Banana Fish or Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's always interested me... alas, decisions. I would love to give Gantz a go, because I'm totally loving the anime, but it's at 30 volumes and still publishing! I'd never be able to keep up.

My chest is killing me so I'm going to wrap this up now.

OK, I figured out my reading agenda after I finish The Drifting Classroom: I'm gonna pick up Museum of Terror, vol. 3 by Junji Ito ASAP. I'd really hate to be forced to fork over some gross amount of money I won't be able to afford anyway if it goes OOP. Then I'm gonna get To Terra... by Keiko Takemiya. The sci-fi aspect of Classroom is growing on me more than I thought it would, so it seems like the right time to give this series a shot. Also, it's only three volumes ^_~

It looks like I'll be ordering Museum of Terror, vol. 3 on Wednesday, then concentrating on finishing up The Drifting Classroom. While I'm reading Museum, I may check out an American horror book before starting To Terra... -- Black Hole by Charles Burns, about a crazy STI that mutates the people infected by it, specifically a group of teenagers. Sounds great to me!

Uch, I had to re-read vol. 1 of School Zone by Kanako Inuki last night before I could start vol. 2, because I couldn't for the life of me remember where the story left off (and the summary at the beginning of the book was not at all helpful). The action is, at times, very difficult to follow, which is ultimately why I passed on a copy of vol. 3 at Bookman's (on Speedway) tonight. I'm glad I did -- Bookman's (on Grant) had a copy of Monster by Naoki Urasawa volume 1 for $5! I'm gonna read it tomorrow while Kris is "donating" plasma. I'm very excited -- I always looked for it whenever I was in a bookstore but I could never find it. I'm kind of reluctant to invest in another series while I'm reading The Drifting Classroom by Kazuo Umezu, but it looks like I won't have to as a few volumes are OOP and selling for prices I am not willing or able to pay. Oh well ^_~
