Hey there^^ I thought I'd also start on a list of works I highly recommend or caution to avoid that are not registered on this site.
This will include books, movies and non "anime" series
Since this is not a set format, I will alternate between recommending specific works and authors as well as not particularly order the entries ^^
To be updated whenever I feel like it :P
BOOKS:
______General Recommendations
___RICK RIORDAN: 's books are pretty much always a joy to read, my particular favorite series in terms of enjoyment and money investment would be MAGNUS CHASE. All of them have a slow character buildup and cliffhanger filled stories, with a unique brand of (if at times slightly juvenile) humor sprinkled in to ease tension. Especially in Magnus chase's chase, I often had to put the book down to get my laughter back under control
___the WINGS OF FIRE series by Tui T. Sutherland: It's a fantasy novel series with dragons of different tribes as their protagonists that has an overarching plot over several books. It's here because I keep getting giddy for each new installment months in advance and really enjoy the characters
______Books with Hardmagic power systems (a pet issue of mine) if you want to make me happy give these a chance :P
___Chronicles of Everfall: SHADOW OF THE CONQUEROR by Shad M. Brooks, a debut novel with a lot of promise. Likely it'll stay the only novel too, the author sadly fell off the wrong side of the internet during the pandemic, which frankly makes me conflicted on recommending giving him any more money.Alas ,this is one for true hardmagic enthusiasts, as about 40% of the book is the main character nerding out about the application of their magic system, which is literally the foundation of the world. The main character is also the former Villain, which makes for unusual struggles, even if the list of his past crimes sometimes seems excessively edgy.
___The MISTBORN Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson has deep, well written characters, an immeasurable threat to oppose our protagonists and dynamic and detailed, convincingly crafted fights. This is crowned by a magic system solid as bedrock which allows the burning of metals for certain superpowers. There is a lot more depth to it that you'd think and its quite impressive how much applications it finds.
___MISTBORN's sequel Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson set after the events of the original is just as impressive in its writing as the original one was, if not better. It baffles me how complex and believable of a fictional social fabric and political era Sanderson produces. Other than Mistborn OG (most of) our Characters are experienced and have a reputation and history that predates the events of our novel. The biggest difference to the original is the amount of believable banter and comedic chemistry between Wax and Wayne which has a way of giving you a glimpse into their past while also making you laugh

___The Wheel of Time is the grandfather of the genre, and has served as a personal inspiration for most of its modern star authors, with writing that easily held up and still cements its place at or near the top
-My personal 'Paper shredder'

///After reading the "dystopia" novel THE CIRCLE I felt the urge to warn people from this critical acclaimed clusterfuck of horrible writing and boomer political statements that somehow had multiple out of the blue sex scene more annoyingly written than the main character talking about her dislike of burlap wallpaper for about 5 full, uninterrupted pages. Said character being an insult to the term one dimensional, and still somehow staying the most vivid personality encountered through the story

MOVIES(I have not seen all of those recently, so nostalgia might carry):
___animated
how to tame a dragon
Wall-E
Atlantis The lost empire
Zootopia
guardians of light (Nostalgia might carry here)
___non-animated:
Tribute's of panem series (perfect adaptation of the book with incredible production value)
V for Vendetta
SERIES(not registered on this site):
___AtlA, or AVATER THE LAST AIRBENDER: A carton with strong Japanese influences and easily a 10/10 by my rating standards we got redemption stories, cross season character arcs a solid hard magic system as well as likeable charters with whom we get to see much of their fascinating world. Its sequel THE LEGEND OF KORRA is a lot less impressive, with the second season soft reckoning and devaluing several parts of the original. But its still good enough for a 8/10 on its own.
___Arcance: Another excellent animated series, themed of LoL, but very much enjoyable without having any interest in the source material. far from it. I'd even argue its even better if you have no clue to the hints they drop for fans.

Games: (for now only the ones which I enjoyed for storytelling)(loosely ordered)
Prey |Soft Horror game with fun gun play and deep philosophical questions
NierAutomata|Excellent Jrpg with intriguing story, DONT QUIT after B2's Campaign
Astral Chain |Bit Similar to Nier, goes full anime at some point, in a good way
Ori (both parts) |Heartwarming, Tear inducing, Mechanicaly+Visualy brilliant platformer
Oneshot |Indie Game which's story still lives in my heart after years
Pyre __|\
Transistor | Brilliant games by Supergiant, like reading a good book.+Fun as hell
Hades _|/
Debris |Indiegame with a bit of walkingsim aspects but a lot of love+COOP!
Everspace |Rougelike with a slowly revealed story , pretty hit and run gameplay
Disco Elysium |Probably the best "role play game" ever made, but in the true meaning of the words, not their associated gameplay tropes, the trailers are frankly do a better job than I could ever manage, so please give those a chance
Rebel Galaxy |Did ya ever want to have broadside naval fights in space while raving to Tencho Western music? (alright its maybe the overall feel in this one, fine xD But the story is passable, and the game just doesnt get enough love)

-since I have to tag an anime, I chose FULL METAL ALCHEMIST:BROTHERHOOD for their hard magic system
