I'm still trying to get on track by watching all the anime I wanted to watch, and also check out the offerings in the most popular series lists. I'm also looking at what other people are enjoying, there's a few anime blogs that I read and I figure it would save me some time if I checked out some of their picks.

The problem is this, I like anime a lot, but it has taken me a while to figure out what I like to watch.

a) horror/supernatural/thrillers/bloody (Ghost Hound, Ghost Hunt, Mushishi, Blood+, Death Note, Gantz, Memnosyne, etc.)
b) quiet series of various genres (Mushishi, Fruits Basket, Natsume something, the germ anime, Minami-ke)
c) ecchi ( too many to name)
b) yaoi (Antique Bakery, Junjou Romantica)
d) tiny niche genres (Baccano, Welcome to the NHK, Genshiken <-- sp? )
e) music (Beck, NANA)

I still need to learn the special names for some of the genres, sometimes I feel like I'm missing out on some good shows because I don't understand the descriptions. But I'm learning!

I know that if I want something silly with boobs, watch ecchi...I think. And yaoi is soft porn for girls, and I usually like stories about otaku...types. hehe.

So here's to a new year, I probably won't have time to watch anime while school is in session, but by that time I'll know what I want to watch and have it ready to go (since my favorite online game is going under).

Anime Relations: Cowboy Bebop, Mushishi, Death Note

What a hard task! I have a lot of anime that I like, and some that I love. But how do you narrow it down to just five?

So I started thinking about it, and here's how I narrowed it down.

1. It had to be an anime that I've watched more than a few times
2. I still had to like it and/or love it
3. I would recommend it to my non-anime friends
4. Bonus points if I rented it
5. Extra Bonus points if I bought it.

The first four were pretty easy, and they aren't in any particular order. However, #5 was tough because I really like Cowboy Bebop, Death Note and Mushishi.

I'm still wavering because I've seen Cowboy Bebop so many times and I'd never change the channel if it was on Adult Swim, plus I've rented it a few times and watched the movie.

But I really loved the first half of Death Note, to the point that I have an char-crush on L, and really all I wanted to see was more of him. I also rewatched it to death (hehe) and watched the director's edit of the show without skipping anything.

Mushishi, however, is practically legendary in my brain, and I will buy the box set when it comes out because I love the art, the stories and from what I remember, there was only one weak episode out of the whole thing, and it really wasn't that bad. But I haven't rewatched it more than twice, although I'm currently redownloading so I can watch it again. It's been a long time since I've seen it, so we will see if it still appeals to me, and if it does, I will add it as my final fave.
