Anime Relations: Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
I had so much fun watching Rakudai, all 12 episodes of it.

I started watching it this morning and finished it just now, in one whole day, which is a rarity in itself for me because usually I am not that invested enough in the stroy as to watch it all in one go but Rakudai was such a fun ride that I can't help myself of wanting to watch the next episode, and the next, and the next, and the next!

By all means, Rakudai is a generic show - that much is a fact. But what makes it so enjoyable and, dare I say, different from the other generic shows of its genre (being romance/ecchi/fantas/supernatural/harem) is the execution. Rakudai is aware of the tropes, cliches as well as character archetypes that are prevalent in other anime within the aforementioned genres and instead of falling for the same cliches, it breaks through them all in such a fun and spontaneous way!

Anime Relations: Death Parade
These are just my thoughts after watching Death Parade ep. 9.

Even early on in the series I have found myself questioning the methods to which a judgement came to pass on in the series. The whole shenanigans of drawing out a soul's darkness and how a human came to overcome it is a bit one-sided for me. How can you judge a person's life based on one simple moment or decision made in an artificial constructed setting, ignoring all the kind and good decisions that one has made throughout his or her entire life? It's very unjust and seems more like the arbiters' or "God's" means of cutting it short and simple for them to pass on judgement to these people.

And this show realises the unfairness behind this method and is questioning it. You can see that in certain episodes, the show would show images of persons who are being judged during the ending song - the good moments of their lives, and it is its way of telling us, the audience, that there is something wrong with the system.

The show also tries to bring out the whole question of how can an arbiter, who is not a human, never experienced life as a human and has never died as well, be able to judge another human? The whole, how can you relate and understand us if you are not one of us? I don't want to get too into it just because, I am a bit unsure just yet on my own standing and thoughts when it comes to this issue. I do not think a human would be able to judge another human fairly and justly but I do see the appeal and reasoning of the judge having a sense of understanding of another human. I feel this issue relates very much on how you perceive life after death and ultimately your belief on life itself. For an atheist, I don't think they believe that there is life after death whereas for a religious person, depending on what religion it is, will have their own perception on this issues - judgement day and the hereafter.
