I, like many others, recently finished Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon, and when texting some friends about it, one of them mentioned that Crunchyroll's recommendations were garbage, so I threw out some of my own. Namely, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Toradora, and, the mangaka's previous work adapted to anime, I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying.

When writing up recommendations for the Danna, I got lost in the writing style of Cool Kyou Shinja. See, Cool-kun as I call him/her, has a very comfortable way of writing comedy. To pull a page from my recommendation of it:
"I'd compare the the comedy style of these shows, and especially the recurring jokes, to a good cup of coffee in the morning. Sure, it's nothing you haven't had many times before, but sometimes it's exactly what you need."
It's infrequently hilarious, but throughout Cool-kun's works, I'm very rarely left without a smile on my face. It's like hearing the favourite joke of your significant other, or the infectious laugh of your best friend. It's not inherently the funniest, but your emotional connection to the characters that he's established keeps you smiling.

I've watched I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying about 4 times now, and it's not gotten any worse. The fact that the tone of the show builds an intimate knowledge of the characters interations, and the comedic style is how it is, that it feels more like an enjoyable daily cycle than diminishing returns.

is a masterpiece of comedy and romance. It physically pains me when I see it described as "average at best".
