Before I had even read the manga, I had first watched the TV series back in 1999 and fell in love with Kenshin's character from the very moment I had watched the firstOVA, and the series(for a time) was a personal favorite. So I was pretty shocked to hear that after 2 years, Kenshin dies. I mean I knew he would have eventually, but to see it in the final OVA done well was...in my books...pretty sad

This guy was the epitome of cool, and the series Cowboy Bebop, is a masterpiece that will go down in anime history. Now there are speculations that Spike didn't die in the end and he somehow made it. There are even die-hard fans who want more from its creator in hopes for maybe a second season. I don't see that happening, and it's better they let the dead rest in peace as they are better remembered that way.

As they are both from the same series, I thought I'd include both as number 8 as I would class them more as a WTF death. First up, we get 8 episodes of awesomeness that is Kamina doing what does best(being awesome) and then he carks it. Like WTF? I guess it did make the series interesting, but it was too soon for someone of his stature. Nia's wasn't so bad, but I did start to feel an attachment with her specially at the end, but NOOOO, they had to kill her off as well. Yes the "Spiral Theory" comes in effect but seriously. I really felt sorry for Simon out of all this as he got shafted so many times throughout the series and his 2 main supports dies on him.

Number 7 goes out to both Chrno and Rosette. I found both of their deaths at the very end to be really sad. While some may think they died peacefully and at least they had each other in the end, all I saw was tragedy. I mean they did all they can to save the day but in the end they still died whilst Aion is out scot free in modern times. Even Satella's death was tragic!

Now I'm not talking about Maes Hughes from FMA:Brotherhood, but instead, Maes Hughes from the original FMA where he was more emphasized as a character. This guy was a family man, and someone who actually looked out for both Ed & Al's welfare and not because they were military alchemists. To see this guy die was enough to bring a guy to tears and it didn't help that his daughter Elycia was asking her mom all them questions as they buried poor Hughes.

I was pretty much spoilt about this guys death as I also read the manga, and even then I was pretty shocked, so to see it all over again in anime was sadness x 2. Although this guy didn't have as much airtime as the rest of the cast, he is one supporting character that will go down in anime history as being the coolest.(up there with Spike and the others)....I thought I'd also add this in here as this really fits for one who is and was great of the OP world.

Why do all cool guys have to die? I think there's a written rule in anime where if a supporting character is cooler and attracts a fanbase that they have to kill them off in order for the main lead to get the spotlight. Point in case with Nicholas D. Wolfwood. Now I like Vash and he happens to be one of my fave's, but I would prefer Wolfwood over him. When I had first watched the series so many years ago, I was pretty much shook up to see my fave character die. Just hearing Milly wail her tears away was enough for me to want to join her.

Whilst there were a few deaths in Code Geass that is worth mentioning, the one that actually brought a deeper impact for me would have to be Shirley's in CGR2. Honestly, I was never a fan of Lelouch and I really don't know why she had to be infatuated with that arrogant a*hole and I really did feel for her right at that moment when she died in front of him. I will also give an honorable mention to Rolo's death as well, as he did die for that bastard, but honestly I really can't shed a tear for him either due to having done what he did to Shirley.

Well what can I say? I'm a sucker for One Piece and the death of Going Merry has to be one of the most saddest episodes I have ever seen in anime history. For something that was meant to be inanimate, I can't believe I actually felt something welt inside. If there was a Kleenex award for saddest anime it would rightfully go to Merry.

This is the only time I will admit that I actually shed manly tears for a TV series, and with all good reason. Having a 4 year old son myself, to actually see Ushio die only a few episodes after Nagisa was enough to clear 2 boxes of Kleenex as it was hitting close to home. After Story really knows which buttons to push, as it pretty much is the series to watch if you wanna feel depressed.
