My rating system
Version 3.5
8: Peak.
These are series I really like. They're made super well, and they have some aspects in which they really excel. Their flaws are very limited, if they even have any I can identify.
9: Something a little extra special.
I have a hard time describing what exactly makes a nine, but it's on the lines of being exceptional instead of just really great. I find that many of the series I put here qualify as the best at ‘something’.
10: Fuck yeahhhh.
Do tens really exist? Many of the series here have been rated at a nine before, or might be rated such in the future. A couple are permanent residents, but only having those would compress the nines a bit too much.
4: Ambivalent.
Nothing interesting to say. Usually I have no particular positive or negative thoughts. If its mixed both ways it won't often be here.
5: Okay.
It's fine. I like it, I guess. Not much, but it made me smile occasionally, or had a semblance of a good character arc.
6: Good, solid.
These are usually well made series that I just didn't care about very much. If asked, I would say I like them, though I would not frequently have too much else to say.
7: Great.
Pretty good! I do have something to say about sevens, there's always gotta be something worth talking about. Sometimes they have major flaws weighing them down, but often they're just good all-around stories.
3: Disliked it.
I had active nitpicks when reading. Things just didn't fit together well, or it's all tropes and not even fun.
2: Actually painful to read through.
I just did not have a good time. Not many series stay down here, as I usually have to put things I hate on extended pause, and when I come back much later I generally have less issue with it.
1: The worst imaginable.
Death March. Just awful.
This is primarily for manga. Anime ratings are theoretically the same, but with the much more limited amount I've watched I cannot distinguish as cleanly between the tiers.
Not that the tiers are that distinct anyways.
