So, I've returned after over a month of just updating the series VERY slowly that I've been watching. I haven't done any new reviews, no series outside of Anime Club (which is over for the semester), and just not a heck of a lot in general.

I just noticed that I've reached 50 series completed, so I figured it's time for a little updating here.

Don't be afraid, though. The reviews will stay the same. Just going to redo most everything else. Profile picture, Favorites List, About Me, etc.

Anime Relations: Hellsing, Soul Eater, K-On!
So, apparently "a day or two" translates into a week, but my Soul Eater review is finally up for your viewing.

In other news, I have just finished K-ON!, and have rated it an 8. I will wait to review it until after K-ON!! is finished, which won't be until Winter Break. Until then, you have four more reviews to look forward to!

Hellsing will be finished this coming Thursday, and my crystal ball predicts an 8 or 9 for the series pending some catastrophic collapse. I also just received Air in the mail, so I may be tempted to watch it before WB, though school may hamper me from proceeding with that temptation.

That's all for now. Probably will be offline for a while, but I'll still be willing to reply to comments, so don't be afraid to leave them!

Sayonara!

I'm baaack! After finally getting life back in order (I blame college), I'm returning to my regular posting and what-not. And, boy, do I have news.

Those who know me in person have heard my rants on many a series, but none as much as NGE. In my opinion, of the few episodes I watched, let's just say the character design is...sloppy. It bothered me so much that I did not want to return to it.

Well, along comes this series called Hellsing. "Vampires" usually does not mix well with good character design from what I've seen in the past (and no, that's not just based on Twilight). Thanks to the KU Anime Club, I was pretty much required to watch it, and it has impressed me.

So, those of you who know me may want to brace yourselves for this next bit. Because of how good Hellsing is turning out to be, I will be watching NGE during Winter Break this year. Still there? Good. I have more.

Right now, my Winter Break list includes the following series:
> K-ON!!
> NGE
> Chobits
> Chrno Crusade
> Hayate the Combat Butler!
> Minami-ke
> Clannad ~After Story~
> Air
> Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu
I doubt I'll be able to get through all of these during that short period of time (Hayate is 52 episodes, people), but I will make sure to get through NGE and Chobits. Most likely Air as well. And, no, the two exclamation points in K-ON!! is not a typo. I'll get to that in a bit.

First, I thought I should update you curious readers (I would say "dedicated", but I don't have any of those) as to what I'm watching in Anime Club. Four different series. Here's the breakdown.

Hellsing - 9/13 episodes
Interesting so far, as it seems to be nearing the climax. Characters are, for the most part, well done. Seras could be a bit less dependent on Alucard, though. Just throwing that out there.

Bamboo Blade - 12/26 episodes
Yes, we are watching Bamboo Blade. Yes, this is my third time watching the series. You want any more description than that, read my review.

Ergo Proxy - 12/23 episodes
...The HELL?! Hold on, I think my mind just went to the fetal position. Moving on.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - 12/26 episodes
Wow, these are solid characters. A bit more episodic than I expected, but that doesn't hamper the enjoyment of watching this series. Wish they'd stick to the Laughing Man stuff a bit more, but I guess keeping that hidden is part of the series's charm.

So that's all for anime club. "But wait!" someone may say. "Why is K-ON!! (season 2) in your Winter Break list when you haven't completed or aren't currently watching season 1 in Anime Club?" Because, dear person, I'm watching K-ON! during the semester outside of Anime Club. "5 anime in a semester?! You crazy bastard!"

Okay, no one's really going to ask me that, so I'll just get to the point. I began watching K-ON! on Saturday, 10/09/10. Why K-ON!? (Wow, that looks weird) Well, at first I wanted to watch it because it was a Slice of Life series based around a band. Don't see many like that. Add in the fact that I'm also a video game player, and the band in the series covers every instrument in Rock Band 3, and I was intrigued to see if there was any music I could suggest to Harmonix for DLC.

Then, I started to dig for a bit more information, and I found out that the Producer and Director both worked on Kanon (2006) and Clannad (Clannad was given a 10, remember), and I believe at least one of them worked on Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, if not both.

So far, I'm 6 episodes in, and I couldn't be more amazed. The music is a lot of fun to listen to, the ending theme is probably one of the best ending themes I've ever heard and watched ("Don't Say 'Lazy'". Look it up), and the characters are extremely well done. Will probably finish it over Fall Break.

Well, that's all for me for now. Look for my Soul Eater review in the next day or two, as I finally finished writing it. The next review will probably be K-ON!, followed shortly by Hellsing, though I may wait to review K-ON! until after I finish K-ON!! (season 2, if you can't tell the difference), and do a collective review under the latter title. We'll see.

So, a lot of things have changed in a short amount of time.

First, I finished my review of Clannad (a.k.a. 10 rating #2), and it's gotten 11/25 helpful ratings. I don't usually go to a great amount of depth in my reviews, so I can understand being below 50%. I only have one above 50%, actually, and that's Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (2009). Oh well.

Second, I've started adding a few series to my Plan to Watch list, and most of them are Slice of Life. Hmm.... I also started watching Chobits (Yay, Chii!), and I'm rewatching Bamboo Blade in English with a friend. Oh, and there's only one week until Soul Eater is finished in Anime Club.

Finally, I'm considering redoing my introduction page again, though I probably won't get around to it this week. Sometime in the near future there should be some changes. I'm also juggling around the idea of adding a fourth character to my Review Crew, though I'm not sure her personality is really suitable for my anime reviews.

Well, that's about it. Until next time, NinjaKirby out!

Anime Relations: Clannad, Soul Eater
Today is the end of my summer class for this year, giving me three weeks before the start of the fall semester. That's three weeks for watching anime and goofing off in general. I was planning to make my AMV during these three weeks, but I haven't gotten a hold of a non-linear video editor, so I'll just set the AMV to the side. I'll still generate some ideas, but I won't go crazy with it right now.

Two more weeks from now, I will have finished Soul Eater. Should have my review for Clannad finished soon as well (got sidetracked with AMV planning), so look for that in a few days. I'll probably watch a CLAMP series or two that I haven't watched yet in these next three weeks, as my Plan to Watch list slowly continues to grow as I watch more AMVs.

Anime Relations: Clannad, Soul Eater
As the title states, I have finished with Clannad. With characters that were so well designed (albeit one was predictable) and a story that constantly played with my emotions, it's impossible for me to give this anything but a 10. The full review is in the process of being written, and should be out in the near future.

Soul Eater still engages me as well, as I'm actually struggling to keep myself from watching the rest of the series without the rest of the anime club (part of the reason I started watching Clannad was to keep me from doing this).

As for the AMV, I'm making progress. Slow progress, but still progress. I've almost got all the scenes chosen, though I'll probably give certain episodes a glance or two before I fill in the gaps (I have the series pretty well memorized, though, so I'm confident that I'm choosing the best scenes for the AMV).

Hopefully, once I'm prepared with ripping the DVDs, I can finish the AMV with Adobe Premier Elements before the trial period runs out. I'm not going to even download the program until I have my scenes ripped, though. And, of course, I'll be keeping both parts of my source material a secret until the AMV is complete.

That's about it. With finishing Clannad, I've reached 30.0 days worth of anime. I'm not sure whether to be proud of myself or not. (^_^;)
