The animu bug bit me tonight as I reflected on the fact that college has eaten up much of my anime watching time...and I really want to consume more series, especially odd 80's and 90's things...but even so, new works keep me interested as well (erm...the new FMA and the soon to be released remake of Ai no Kusabi....bah, won't even get into other need to sees from this past decade.)

I've been watching bits and pieces of Macross 7, Digimon (subbed finally?), and soon to be something another 90's sampling...Virus Buster serge was it? *sigh* so many ACTUAL classics I still need to see from that era, the old pioneers, dubbed treasures brought here long ago and edited for TV...and I missed them all not having access to CN/Toonami. =/

Anilinkz is certainly changing all of this, it's one kickass embedded video site.
We'll see how much more gets watched in the up coming days/weeks/months.

By the way, format's entirely gone from this blog by now, lol.

So, for the past two weeks, I've found myself watching a great variety of titles, and even started a new one (just here me out!) today. I think I'll try keeping this updating process on at least a weekly basis, preferably Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night.

I finished the Trigun (Maximus bitch!) manga after 7 years collecting the series, and I was rather disappointed...wtf happened to manga Knives?! The spark of clarity that the anime adaptation had just fell flat with the original creators pen, from CONSTANTLY choppy, hard to follow action bits to an entirely banal ending, it was just meh all around. The only interesting part that wasn't highlighted from the now antiquated anime was the inner workings of the plant creature itself, and it was a shame that an interesting premise (the experimented girl plant) from around volumes 10-12 just kinda gave way to more of the same later on. The anime's writing was overall executed much better, even when it greatly deviated the story. Oh well. We shall see where this supposedly upcoming movie goes.

Finished the first half the KK Yokohama Kaidashi anime, I love that iris camera to death. <3 Quite a charming slice of life in of itself. More to follow when I complete the second half.

Next, I tackled a recommended "classic"...um...Lingerie Soldier Papillon Rose!..yeah. It's a one-shot ova that completely submits to being a near magical hentai spoof. Even the NAME Tsubomi sounded titillating. I can definitely appreciate the more than intentional nods to Sailor Moon and Cutey Honey's villains. Not sure if I really need to watch the ova series quite just yet.
The thing worked well as a chuckle/grimace inducing parody. Didn't need to see the fellatioing cat in the end tho. =x

Finally...tonight, I just finished watching Macross 7 episode one, and I'm excited to continue it. The time has come to continue my trek across the stars, consuming the rest of the Macross saga's (anime) material. I THINK I saw most of Flashback 2012, but don't quote me on that.

Oh...and I never did get to GE 999 #14 but that's next!

Yeah, little bit extra here. In the interest of keeping my viewing habits somewhat manageable, I'll be limiting myself just a bit on the lists themselves.

Currently watching, I have 5 titles. But that could change.

I'm now keeping my "On hold" series docked at 25, and my "Plan to Watch" list, mostly movies and ovas from the looks of it, at 35. Nice odd but similar numbers. And if I should move a title anywhere out pf here, that leaves one space open for another series/film to take it's spot, either from my HUGE dropped list, or from whatever new discovery catches my fancy.

The numbers are t3h law. xp

So...what the hell happened to me and my promises of consistent reporting? Internet crash at my grandparent's is what happened. More like a full system file missing, and obnoxiously causing me to go without for a while. I was at least able to get some artwork done, but after a week or so, the internet was quite sorely missed.
Then I got home, and work happened. A camp to be exact, so my free time is often leisurely and...well, tired. But I'll keep trying to keep up with the viewing more.

What I HAVE watched in the past few weeks? (not able to date this one due to the X-TREME time lapse)

~ Not anime, but highly related: Ann TV's convention videos from the past few years....they're getting me more pumped about the subculture again, especially cosplay, and that's a good thing. it's nothing I want to outgrow, but there are various aspects of the otaku lifestyle that I either dislike or find myself loosing touch with newer shit.

~Galaxy Express 999 episode 12. Loved it lots.
I took a closer look at Maetal's attire's finer points, in order to perfect the bigger issues my cosplay has. I'll get it right.
Otherwise, the episodic classiness and intrigue of these episodes have never failed t keep me entertained and loving the series like no other. ALTHOUGH...12 left at a cliffhanger, need to get on that and finish up 13. WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE FOSSILIZED PLANET? o.O

~Got through about half of the first A-Ko movie last weekend, looked like a promising fun little 80's thing, but unfortunately, every streaming video I've been able to come across has entirely stopped after a certain point. Fail. =(

~Oh, I shouldn't neglect to mention that during my internet-less period, I knocked out the Sailor Moon R special and, slightly out of chronological order, the S movie, Hearts in Ice. I did indeed love it, the animation was gorgeous and 90's, the humor was actual humor, Luna was too cute for words, and the fights were actually rather intense, more so with the Ice Dancers than anything else. And I watched it subbed of course, so none of this "She's no Venus de Milo" BS. xp
I'm actually considering, just perhaps to further acclimate myself with iMovie or whatever, making an actual AMV based on the love shown in this movie. The picture just really felt like it lended itself well to this sort of thing.

and FINALLY, took care of Sailor Moon episode 100 (or, the Super season episode 10..or 11...>>; ) This episode literally was, in terms of viewing a month in the making. And it was just all right o be honest, just Minako's turn to be somehow inspired by awesome Haruka, lament a lost chance of a (poor choice in) boyfriend, and Daimon's that go down like paper airplanes. Kind of lame, but the spirit of this season does keep me happy and interested overall. I know it'll pick up soon.

Soooo much other anime to eventually get back on as well, it's ridiculous. xp

So it turns out that Media Player Classic solves all problems. I can now resume watching Dragon's heaven...but not before I get to sailor Moon S 100! And..other stuff, like Macross Flashback 2012 (again, but this time in higher quality) and that Yokohama ova. Busy busy...

6/8/07- Another episode of Sailor Moon SUUUPPAAA down, one more to go (to make...100...wooh.) Some notes.

-Good to see Yuichiro again, yet another purehearted target...and..holy crap he has eyes?

-LMAO at the 70's-esque ballad that played as he was leaving the shrine and "departing on the train."

-The Daimon are getting really pathetic (3-5 minute fight at most?), if not interesting at least in design. Plot needs to advance soon..but this is still one of my favorite seasons in terms of CD and my overall enjoyment.

-Haruka's also now one of my favorite senshi next to the leader, I dunno, just thought I'd mention that. Her masculine nature's interesting without being cliche. And that's easy to get stuck in with a series like this. I can obviously see how she and her girlie are disliked by some fans, however.

That's about it, on to 100.

Also, will be starting this random 90's ova, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou at some point...in keeping with my current time period interests. The torrent already downloaded and seeded just fine, so it's a go. I shouldn't continue this more randomized trend however, I have streaming series to catch up on (FMA...hopefully there'll be little more interruptions from asshat hacker.)
