How to get into Kakegurui
Anime Relations: Kakegurui, Kakegurui××
(Yeah I wrote this out of nothing and the followings are just my opinions)
(Under construction) (Try my best to avoid spoilers)
How many works does this series include?
Manga: Kakegurui, where the protagonist is Yumeko; Kakegurui Twin, where the protagonist is Mary; Kakegurui Midari, where the protagonist is Midari; Kari, which is a cute and parodic spinoff of the original stories
Anime: Two seasons, the first season is Kakegurui and the second season is Kakegurui xx
Live action: Two seasons of Kakegurui and one season of Kakegurui Twin; two movies
Are there large differences between the anime/live action and the manga?
It's hard to say as "large" is a subjective adjective, though I would admit some details and depiction on characters in manga are better than those in anime. Especially on my best girl Sayaka
For instance, Kirari, who is the main antagonist of the story, appears less frequently in live action. Her appearance in some scenes are replaced by other characters in the live action.
How should I start watching the series?
Reading the manga is undoubtedly the best way to start. If you don't want to, it's also fine to start by watching anime or live action first, just bear in mind that there're some differences between anime or live action and manga. Twin and Midari are not a must, but they're good to read and I definitely recommend reading them if your best girl is Mary or Midari. Kari is very interesting too, and I specifically recommend it to all my Kirasaya shipping fellows.
Is this show yuri(shoujo-ai) (or not yuri, depending if you like it or not)?
Yuri is not the main focus, but there are some yuri elements in this show.
To yuri lovers: Be patient and wait for Kirasaya (Kirari x Sayaka) turn, you'll be greatly surprised by this wonderful ship. Don't turn away because Suzui appears to be the main protagonist (he is not indeed, but he is kind.)
To non-yuri lovers: You can still enjoy the show, as yuri is not the main focus. Not liking the romantic elements in a show doesn't mean you can't enjoy the other aspects.
