Anime Relations: Sword Art Online
Story- 3
The very basic plot was interesting. Unfortunately, this was vastly overshadowed by the infinite amount of plotholes, the ridiculous harem element that really added nothing to the series, the absolutely absurd amount of inconsistencies, Kirito, and, most of all, Kayaba.
Art- 5
Alfheim's visuals were MUCH better than SAO's. However, the cities in SAO were nice- Unfortunately, it gets a LOT of points reduced for the fact that the 'caves' and 'dungeons' used the lazy grid background with bushes. SERIOUSLY? They had some GREAT opportunities for some really fun cave and monster designs and they were all just plain lazy. The character faces were boring and suffered from "same face syndrome".
Like I said, Alfheim's visuals were nice and I admit I liked the costume designs. But then they had tentacle monsters players/GMs? Eeer. This goes beyond fanservice- They could have at least made them treants with vines, or something- But purple tentacle blobs? Um, no. Anyway, the towns were pretty and the sky was nice and the tree was fun, but they could have pushed it even further. The boss fight chambers, like SAO's, were lame and lazy.
Then there's the animation portion- Unimpressed. Typical 'anime' animation and A-1 pictures animation, which is usually very little 'animation'. They tried a little harder on SAO than they have been with Fairy Tail and others, but none of the animation made me say "WOW LOOK AT THAT!" Even CLANNAD of all things impressed me in terms of animation.
Sound- 7
Voices were alright, music was good I will admit.

Kirito is one of the worst male leads. Ever. Why? He is a Gary Stu. Asuna was fine (still not a GOOD character) until she became a pathetic snivvling "SAVE ME KIRITO" damsel in distress character. The random harem chicks were just that- random jealous harem chicks. Sugu was just AWFUL in her brother complex and all her fanservice. Every character is created in order to make Kirito look cooler. The little daughter, whatsername, was okay-ish, but she was just a really stock one-dimensional character. Not a single one of the characters was original in any way, shape or form- Except maybe Kirito. He was original in the fact that I have never seen a more fan-fictionesque, Gary Stu character actually exist in an OFFICIAL series. It's really quite an impressive feat they managed, and more impressive that people actually buy into his bullcrap.
Enjoyment- 7
To say I did not enjoy SAO would be a lie. However much of my enjoyment came from all of the laughter I emitted at the sheer idiocy of the whole thing. The 3 almost rape scenes had me rolling on the floor. Kirito being so stupidly broken was hilarious. The forced harem elements were really amusing in all their sheer stupidity.
Overall- 4.
SAO is AWFUL. I can get why people LIKE it- Just like I can get why people LIKE Twilight and Mirai Nikki. What I DON'T get is how people actually thinks it's GOOD.

More Mirai Nikki
Anime Relations: Mirai Nikki (TV)
So, just got done watching this.
... People honestly think this is good? Like, genuinely? How? I mean I can understand LIKING it and all- It's fast-paced and exciting, but to think it's GOOD? I can not in good conscience give it higher than a 4 because it really is just BAD. The plot is SO disjointed, every character except for Yukki's mother contradicts themselves on more than one occassion, noting is properly explained, random ideas are introduced and then forgotten... It really is a train wreck.
The real kicker is that they creator wants us to really like and feel sorry for Yuno. Uh, come again? No. Way. I pity her third incarnation (kinda) and she seems fine, but that's it. The first incarnation? You have GOT to be kidding me. This is like Elfen Lied all over again- "HERE GUYS! THIS IS YOUR MAIN CHARACTER. She's got pink hair and she's super kawaii-desu! Yeah she's also a murdering psychopath who has no regard for anyone other than herself and will literally kill all who stand in her way, including innocent people and children, but come on, she's got pink hair! You should like her. NOW." And otaku-weaboo-brain-deads bite it, hook line and sinker. I don't get it. Also, how did Yukki continue to believe her, let alone FALL IN LOVE with her? She stalked him, kidnapped him, drugged him, lied to him more than once, manipulated him, and more. Why was he SO SHOCKED when she turned out to be evil? REALLY?
Now to say I didn't enjoy the show would be a lie- I mean, I did sit through 26 episodes of the darned thing. Although by about episode 20 the novelty of how laughably bad and disjointed it was was starting to wear off and my patience was growing very thin. Had I not been sick and unable to do anything more productive I may have dropped it, but I was so close to finishing it.

Mirai Nikki Again

So they really like to use gang rape as a plot device. "Uhh we can't figure out a traumatic/powerful event to quickly bring these two people togetehr even though they've had years to develop a close relationship, so uh, SHE WAS GANG RAPED and then he vowed to be her boyfriend!"
Really, there wasn't a point to add that in there. The fact that they met as children already sold me on the idea of them being close lovers that would do anything for each other. The gang rape was completely unnecessary and leads me to believe the creator is a disgusting pervert that just likes throwing that in there- He also has a pee fetish.
And oh God his dad. For starters, his character is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Like, he genuinely wants to be a father again- but he also genuinely doesn't give a shit? Which is it, because it can't be both. Not possible. Except in Mirai Nikki, where it's also possible to forgive your dad ONE DAY after he left you to die and MURDERED your mother who had given her whole life to you and is the only character in the show without any psychotic tendencies. Really? And we were supposed to be SAD when the dad died. Uh, was I the only one sitting there thinking "kid, these guys did you a favor. He says he would be a family with you again but come on, yesterday he left you today AND MURDERED YOUR MOM. He clearly doesn't give a shit about you." But the creators really wanted him to be sympathetic, which I don't get. YOU CAN'T HAVE BOTH!!
I won't even bother commenting on Yuno. I think the whole world knows the problem with that- Although admittedly, the fact that she is named after Hera is pretty fitting since Hera (Juno) was a psychotic jealous bitch who really did murder people out of jealousy.

I shall use this blog to complain/swoon over what anime I am currently watching for my own amusement.
Anime Relations: Mirai Nikki (TV)
Title. Been meaning to do this for a while actually- Not that anyone will ever read it but I need to improve my typing skills. I used to be a phenomenal writer, but then I sort of stopped reading books.
Anyway, first anime is going to be... MIRAI NIKKI. I have heard from my friends that it is stupid, and, low and behold, it is.
"Lol how can we make this SUPERGRIMDARK?"
"I know. Dudes. "Diaries' that tell the future- and imaginary death gods"
"Kinda like Death Note or something?"
Yeah but totally not- THERE'S A TWIST!"
"Twist?"
"Yeah, if your like, diary thing gets kersploded, you die too. and and the death gods are like, not imaginary."
"So if it gets scratched you get scratched, right?"
"Nah, you still die."
"Oh. Okay. Hey are those the box sets for Death Note, Eden of the East and Code Geass on your desk?"
"Yeah man, they're pretty cool"
"When are you going to watch them?"
"Oh I just finished all three. Been marathoning all week."
"I... I see... So uh, would you like me to start figuring out how to pace all twists throughout the series?"
"Nah dude. It's all gonna be revealed- get this- IN THE FIRST EPISODE"
"Uh... Oh.. Okay..."
Later on.
"So I've introduced this character. She like, sees the future in 'dreams' that then appear on her scroll and she's blind and she's a priestess thing with a huge cult following. Oh and she's gonna betray the fuck out of everyone."
"So it's like Hinoto from X/1999, right?"
"Pfft I have no idea."
"Oh uh, okay. So why is she evil and why does she want to.. What do you have written here... 'destroy the world'?"
"Because she was gang-raped."
"Uh, come again?"
"Her followers initiated her by gang-raping her, so now she wants to destroy the world because she's no longer a virgin."
"Uh... Right... Makes perfect sense..."
And then there's Yuno and Yuki. "LOL shes an axe murderer (Reina 2.0) and she's creepy and hell and stalks me to no end. She even broke into my house! But she's hot so I'll forgive her."
This show is comedy gold.
