[Spoilers][VN] YU-NO
OK, so I've just finished "Kono yo no hate de koi wo utau shoujo YU-NO" (Damn longass title...)
So after witnessing all the mindfuck this game has to offer, we arrive at this conclusion:
You're the son of Ikari Gendou (who also narrated Kaiji), whose wife disappeared (now that doesn't sound familiar AT ALL), and who remarried to Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess!. Ikari Gendou in turn is a friend of Andrei Sergeivich Kalinin, who turns out to be a Data Integration Thought Entity interface on the run from inter-dimensional investigator/cop, Skuld. Meanwhile Kurz Weber became a total douchebag and tries to seduce Belldandy for a better position in the corporation or some shit, and Belldandy is busy excavating a mineral that responds to human thoughts, which I'm pretty sure is going to be used when Gendou finally comes around to building Evangelions. To save Belldandy from Weber, you need to break the continuum and give her a certain photo, which you can obtain for the first time right afterwards.
Also, the girl that I like the most, Kanna, turns out to be my daughter, who is more than 50 years old (but still looks like 16-19... Japanese women are scary in that regard), and who was born from an elf from alternate dimension, whom I will meet in four years. She also runs on Soul Gem apparently. Well... not quite, because she doesn't need to recharge it, but screw the little details.
Urd is a history-loving Tsundere and Melissa Mao is a corporate spy who slept with both the protagonist and his father (i.e. Gendou), and she secretly meets with Kalinin at school at night. Peorth had a crush on Kalinin all this time, but after you screwed her a few times (and Urd walked in on you) she started to have a crush on you too, and this is starting to get too long and too fucked up, so I'm going to wrap it up :P
All in all, it was a really good story. I certainly prefer Takuya to Shirogane from Muv Luv Alternative:
Takeru: (thinks) I guess I'm angry that the base commander has been screwing with me and my friends and that she brought them here to make them test samples for some inhuman experiments, but It won't help me right now, so whatever. Getting emotional over such insignificant things as people screwing with my friends who would gladly give their lives in order to help me is childish!
Takuya: You can't eat this naked woman with bat wings who looked like a lizard until a few days ago! She's my friend!
Amanda: If you don't, you will die out of starvation here, that way her sacrifice will be in vain!
Takuya: I understand Your logic, but still...!
Amanda:You're being emotional!
Takuya: AND WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT? (PUNCH)
I'm not trying to say I like him punching women (that actually only happens once I think...), just... Being angry is not really something you can control, especially when it REALLY pisses you off. The fact that Takeru just brushes aside his anger every single time - to me it's the same as if he was saying "Oh, whatever. I don't really care that much". In that regard Takuya seems much more human and much more likable, even if he is an utterly hopeless lecher and acts like a complete idiot sometimes.
The only problem I've had was at the time the game pulled Utawarerumono on me, sending me into some fantasy realm. I was seriously worried whether the creators are going to pull it out, because it seemed like somehow they had no idea what kind of story they want to make anymore.
The way the whole CERES (My god, is it really that hard to find some sensible names for japanese engrish?)/sims plot was executed was... clumsy, though later it breaks through (for me it was the moment when I realized Amanda was Kanna's mother). Still, it took it pretty long to come around, so one point subjected for that - All in all, 9/10 for all the mindfucks it provided :)
