Excellent revenge anime. I do feel that it's a bit slow-paced for its own good, but regardless it is a good anime answer to "Once Upon A Time in America".

Shockingly good-yet-obscure project. Beautifully animated with great music that makes amazing use of its short runtime. I did not go into this series of 5 minute shorts expecting to cry as hard as I did.

Figured I might as well include this, as Araki's most notable work that isn't JoJo. I'll check out the manga eventually too. In this OVA, a random teenager is implated with a parasitic organism which grants him absurd power whenever he takes harm, as he runs for his life and tries to protect and be an onii-chan figure for a precognitive girl who was abducted by the same evil company he was.

Overall solid, I'd say. Good animation and visuals especially. After rewatching every David-animated JoJo Part, it is refressing seeing more fluid animation brought to Araki's work, since David tend to focus more on art than animation. I would consider it one of the more memorable in the sea of edgy 80's/90's OVAs.

The issue I have is that it follows a very familiar formula to aforementioned OVAs, main character is a mutant/cyborg/experiment that seeks revenge against the people that wronged him, pulls new powers out of his ass at random intervals. If you've seen Gokuu Midnight Eye, or Cyguard, you know how this goes.

Good OST, animation and faint hints of good worldbuilding are the only things that give this anime a 4 instead of a 3. The pace is frustratingly slow, it doesn't have any true "filler episodes", but so much time is wasted that important events feel scattered anyway, like who needs cool monster fights when we could have the main character spend 6 episodes DELIVERING MAIL. A competent anime could tell this exact story in 12 episodes without sacrificing anything of note. The setting itself is poorly explained, to the point where events just feel random and incoherent.

Cozy 80s/90s OVA. Nice buddy cop/girls with guns series. It fills my retro anime meter, but doesn't do too much else of note.

REALLY similar to Gangsta, although I think this actually predates it. I haven't heard of the VN, but didn't have trouble following the anime. Anyway, it's quite a fun conspiracy thriller.

More of a downer ending than I think it needed, but otherwise Imaishi absolutely brings his best. Beautiful animation, great characters, banger music.

Dirty Pair is a long-time favorite of mine. I should clarify that there's a lot of bias wrapped up in this rating, as DP has long been my go-to comfort anime that I can flip an episode on whenever I feel the need. Though despite my feelings, I still think it's a technically impressive anime (Kei and Yuri actually wear different clothes every episode, how often do you see that?), with reliably charming zany-ness and charismatic main characters solving Columbo-style mysteries.

Good in parts, but takes itself way too seriously for Dirty Pair, comedy is very sparse. Has a couple of wasted sections that make it kind of feel like they just didn't know what to do with the extra runtime. Kind of gets saved from a lower rating by having a pretty entertaining chase scene in the last third.

This is basically 10 more episodes of the original TV anime. Although that's not a bad thing if you need a quick episodic Kei/Yuri fix with slightly better animation.

Surprisingly good and charming, really enjoyed Gohan and Piccolo finally getting some screentime. Was skeptical about the 3D animation, but this is good too (although not nearly as much eye-candy as Broly). I like the side characters and worldbuilding aspect of Dragon Ball quite a lot.

God-tier action series with a really fun premise. Not as wild as Hellsing: Ultimate, but has much stronger characters, that are fun to watch interact. Drifters is really one of those anime that feels like it was specifically designed for me, down to its very premise. If it ever gets a second season/a proper ending I will almost definitely be bumping this score up to a 10/10.

I feel kind of bad for giving this an 8/10 consider how much it's influenced my 10/10's, but it just didn't hit the right buttons to get much higher than what I gave it. That said it's still a good and enjoyable show in its own right, and has plenty of great animation and music to offer.

Watched the first half of this a couple years ago but never finished it for some reason. No clue what was wrong with me then, because this show kicks ass.

Strange little anime. I recommend checking it out, even if I think it has a lot of flaws.

The animation is so-so, but the artstyle is unique, with most of the technology having a brutalist, almost concrete look to it. Brutalism in a sci-fi setting is a good combination, and a surprisingly rare one. It adds to the sense that this peaceful futuristic society may not be a utopian one. There's also some rough early CG, so be weary. That said, the animation, both 2D and 3D, are both serviceable, and never bothered me.

I take issue with some of the writing, namely that its cast is somewhat larger than the series can handle, characters are far too frontloaded into the show. They should've been introduced more gradually. The dialogue is frequently tripping over its own technobabble. The characters and their conflicts aren't terribly interesting to me, but the sci-fi concepts it gets into can become pretty fascinating, especially around the midway point.

I'll say that my rating for this anime would absolutely be lower if its soundtrack were any different. The OST is unique, almost entirely consisting of buttrock. Almost every scene is accompanied by a chugging guitar riff and kickdrums, and I love every second of it. It genuinely does a lot to elevate many scenes, and adds a spice that this series sorely needs.

It was incredibly forgetable. Kind of felt like a pilot for what was intended to be a bigger franchise. If it did go that way I would probably have enjoyed it more, but as it stands its just a weird isolated... thing.
Edit: Writing this after I've seen Burn-Up. Watch Burn-Up, it's much better.

I wanted to see how bad it was for myself. I was honestly optimistic, but was shocked to see just how much "bad" could be fit into 20 short minutes. It's impressive in that right. Insane plot that tries to do way too much with way too little time, powerpoint-tier animation, comical voice acting. I wouldn't give it a 1 just because it's over quickly, and it does clearly have SOME ambition (rather, too much), which I would prefer to it having too little.

Hazbin Hotel if it were good.

More Anime should strive to have as much fun as this.

Very underrated treat of a series. Nothing mind blowing, but does exactly what it sets out to do. Just a good action anime with a fun gimmick, very much looking forward to season 2.

A worthy sequel to the first season. Likewise this one is a good action anime which flew somewhat under the radar. It does a good job of expanding on season 1, but it works at a much slower pace, which I could see some enjoying, but I think it is to the series detriment.

Great anime that got me suckered into reading the manga pretty much immediately after I finished it. Between its gorgeous CGI visuals and soundtrack, it's an absolute treat for the senses. Starts as an almost Iyashikei type series, but quickly spirals into depression as it gets more near to the end. Hopefully we'll get Season 2 sometime before the heat death of the universe.

Fantastic action, and a cast of characters that manage to be incredibly fun to watch. It juggles all of their different threads well, jumping between their perspectives just often enough that you always want just a bit more of each of them. Excited for season 2, should probably read the manga.

Certified banger, my third favorite part. I thought i wouldve rated this more highly but I realized most of my actual favorite parts are in Egypt. Not that an 8 is anything to scoff at

You may very well disagree with my rating for this part. Stardust Crusaders is beloved of course, but few would rank it as highly as I have. Aside from the sheer amount of things it introduced, (y'know, like STANDS), Part 3 refined the "monster of the week formula" to a tee. It is a formular that gets tired very quickly if used improperly (see Star Driver), but Stardust Crusaders, and most JoJo parts following it, where each stand battle feels completely different than the last, always bringing something new to keep things fresh.

There are things I can complain about however, namely that Polnareff is more of a protagonist than Jotaro is, Avdol and Kakyoin both spend way too long sitting this part out, and never really get another chance to shine after their return. There is also at least one outright bad arc (Alessi...).

It has plenty of highlights, and I like it in general, but I forgot how many of the arcs in part 4 are insufferable (looking at you, superfly (seriously, why the fuck was that a 4-parter)). Thankfully it picks up a lot in the second half, most of the arcs I'm truly bored by are from before Kira is introduced and the part properly kicks into gear.

Going to be honest, I was never the biggest fan of Part 5. Giving it a 6 feels harsh, and by the time you're reading this I may very well have raised it after further meditation, but honestly I just don't enjoy part 6 that much. Manga or anime (although the Anime is an improvement over the manga). The protagonists are the least interesting bunch in any Jojo part, Giorno is barely a protagonist, Mista is a generically stoic Jobro, and Fugo is just entirely pointless (he has 1 fight, in which the fighting is mostly done by Abacchio and Giorno, then has almost no dialogue to speak of until he is unceremoniously written out). Also Diaovolo is the worst major villain, fite me.

The only real praise I can give to part 5 is that it has some of the best minor villains in all of Jojo. Prosciutto and Pesci, Risotto, Ghiaccio, almost all of them are excellent and have far more personality than really any of our main characters.

Finally got around to it, and all it took was me being couch bound with a sprained knee. I'm going to rate this as an entire series because the release schedule was dumb. This rating also includes my thoughts on the 2nd and 3rd parts of the Part 6 anime, since I watched the entire season as a singular entity.

I love Part 6, easily one of the best Parts of JoJo. Part 6 is quite experimental, and I think it's so much better for it. For one, I think it's the first time JoJo really nails having an ensemble cast without giving any one of them too much screentime (could've done with less Weather Report, but that's a me-thing). The Stand Abilities are also the wildest yet, many of them almost feel like something straight out of Xavier Renegade Angel. The setting of a woman's prison in the first half is also very unique, maybe entirely unique for an anime. Part 6 is tied with Part 2 for my second favorite JoJo Part, both are second to Part 7, naturally.

Also Foof is the best JoBro and I will not elaborate.

It is absolutely criminal how much this series has fallen under the radar. Excellent animation, and writing. Special props to the music.

Didn't care for it. I think a movie ending off the series makes sense, especially since the TV show's ending came a bit suddenly and left a lot to be expanded upon. The art is nice, and it works well as an epilogue where we get to see what the characters did with their lives after the original series (apprently, Akito started his emo phase), but the plot of the film itself is very weak and doesn't really continue the themes of the show.

You know the song "Billy Don't Be a Hero"? Imagine that but way, way more sad.

The battle scenes, and the animation in general are absolutely gorgeous. Normally that would be enough to carry a series for me, but Thunderbolt is weighed down by the issue that it clearly thinks that it is much deeper than it really is. Characters are stock anime archetypes (Battle obsessed chad protag, tragic soft villain, token love interest etc.), story themes are all things that have been touched on before and better in previous Gundam media, mech designs are boring for the most part, with it being mostly your standard RX782/GM/Zaku variants. In its defense I've heard the Manga is better about most of these issues. if it weren't for the, again, fantastic animation, the score would be a 2.

P.S Mecha fights set to Jazz are always nice to see, but Akito the Exile did it better IMO.

Does a good job setting up a series. Otherwise there isn't much to talk about, just standard Gundam trauma. The Lfrith's funnel shield is cool, otherwise there isn't much to talk about.

A good conclusion for the series, I can't lie I teared up at the end. That said, the finale of it felt pretty rushed, which is depressingly common for Gundam series, but that's hardly an excuse. Huge plot revelations just kind of breeze past. This series really should've been two 25 episode seasons long like 00 or IBO. That said the ending itself was good as I previously stated, and the series toyed with my emotions in a way that not very many anime succeed in at other points in its run. Not to mention good action and animation. That said I still can't really give this a higher score in good conscience, since it felt horribly rushed.

Fun series with some heart behind it. Pretty bog-standard "Friendship over everything" message, but that's not a bad thing, strictly speaking (also pretty much all but three of the main cast's problems are pretty inconsequential). Wasn't really "for me", but it did what it set out to do very well.

If there were ever an anime that had no right to be as good as it is, it would be Konosuba.

A moody epic fantasy anime that feels like it was adapted directly from someone's DND campaign, in a good way. A bit slow-paced for my liking, but it has an excellent vibe. Deedlit is my Elf-fu.

Bizarrely good soundtrack, otherwise not horrible in its own right, but I cannot imagine a single reason why you'd watch this over Slayers. I found it just really boring It's only 4 30-minute episodes long, yet I struggled to get through it for how boring it was.

Watched this to get a break from the endless JOJO marathon I'm on. All I can say is that the genre of Isekai has caused immeasurable psychic damage to the entire country of Japan to the point where now they simply cannot make a fantasy anime without using the exact same tropes every time, even if it's not Isekai. It's generic isekai fantasy anime template + gimmick. It can hide behind the label of "parody", but that is an outright lie, since parodies have to have some sort of commentary on their source material. Apparently Mashle's idea of "parody" is where you play all of the tropes of the thing your a parody of completely straight, but there's quippy dialogue and sometimes a character will take a prat fall.

That rant aside, I will give it some points, as it's not completely without merit. Good sasugas, and a interesting soundtrack (hip hop and fantasy are always a good combination) , as well as the occasional joke that lands keep it from being unwatchable. Basically a painfully mediocre show that isn't entirely without charm.

Pure 80's sex-and-violence video trash, it excels in that regard and has some pretty cool cyberpunk visuals, and a few bangers in the analogue synth OST. If this had come out today I'd call it a corny caricature of 80's sci-fi, but it's 100% unironic. Besides that however, it has a pretty uninteresting story, it's protagonist is also incredibly OP. Still, if you're in the mood for a very late-80's anime than this will deliver. Otherwise, eh.

Filled the Drifters-shaped hole in my heart, but does a good job of being its own thing as well. Shame it slipped under the radar.

A very "nothing" anime, it is the 90s mecha OVA to end all 90s mecha OVAs. Everything is technically a bit below average, occasionally veering into okay-but-unexceptional. I considered giving this anime a 3, but a 3 would have to be something that left me offended that I watched it. The mech designs themselves are nice, I'd buy models of them if they existed.

Next-level animations that is a beautiful treat for the senses. One of the best anime movies of the 2010's easily. The soundtrack and characters are wonderful as well. I always give this one a rewatch whenever I need a taste of gorgeous animation and epic animation. The only thing I hold against it is the kind of sagging exposition-heavy middle part that I frankly think could've been cut down, and the ending having some confusing messaging. Neither of these distract much from the obscenely good animation that makes perfect use of both traditional and CGI animation.

Redline is an experimental movie. The experiment is: Give a man unlimited time, money, and manpower to try and make his own personal best movie ever. I think he succeeded. At least he did if you're a fan of gorgeous animation, banger music, and side characters memorable enough to each warrant their own whole spinoff show despite most of them getting maybe 4-5 minutes of screentime each.

This is the movie that every animation studio on the planet should be trying to outdo, and I would rate it an 11 if I could.

Out of the holy trinity of Space Cowboy anime released in 1998 (see also: Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop) Outlaw Star is narrowly my favorite.

A fun time with good comedy and loveable characters that serves as a parody of fantasy Anime tropes from its time. Copy-Rezo was pretty cheap though. Also, Jesus that's some low-budget animation.

An imrpovement over the first season in every way, better comedy, the new characters are great, better animation, and a better plot.

The comedy is good but the plot is so-so and Lina acts out of character in some scenes. The villain was fun, as was the giant robot that just says "Yo." in a monotone. Also weird thing to compliment, but I enjoy the color palette a lot, like a rainy summer day.

Just like this show, it oozes good comedy and fun characters, with animation that's leagues above the TV show to boot. Comparing a TV show to a film isn't really fair, I know, but goddamn.

Season 1 had plenty of good episodes, but Season 2 is just banger after banger! That fish episode can go fuck itself though.

Absolutely excellent animation at the beginning would have you believe this was some sort of hidden gem, but once you're at the second half, you realize the horribel truth that this movie is really just "we have Akira at home".

More like SHIDMAN haha. I like the action and Kaiju battles, despite the CGI being pretty average, but the rest of the anime leading up to those fights is just so boring that it's not worth it. What's boring becomes outright stupid in later episodes as characters seem to become increasingly less intelligent. Some good sakugas and the occasional dry humor that lands isn't NEARLY enough to save it from how frustratingly boring it is the rest of the time. I also like Samurai Calibur, he's cool.

Fucking Phineas and Ferb wasn't half as formulaic as this. Besides occasional melodrama, I liked the characters at least. The incredible animation carried it more than anything else though. Mixed opinions. The animation is its greatest strength, but also it's downfall, since I think a lot of my problems with the series comes from the fact that EVERY episode must end on a fight, they refuse to give the characters room to breathe. I'm normally the last person to complain about giant robot fights, but the fights are largely the same, which itself would be less of a problem if they were spaced out more. The animation and occasional good character moments kept me going for a while, but I struggled to get through it for how plain boring it was.

Really good beginning and end, but kind of sags in the middle (frankly this probably would've been better off as a 2-cour show). I do wish we got to see more of the Galactic Alliance/cool space battles, because they looked incredible in the beginning, but that isn't really where the series' interest lie, just mine. Regardless, its a good story with interesting perspectives on humanity and civilization.

A somewhat fillery interquel episode, followed by a backstory for the series' main villain that was kind of missing from the mains series. Nothing really interesting frankly.

I cannot tell you how happy it makes me for there to be a supervillain series that has ACTUAL supervillains doing crimes, rather than having them be just really edgy heroes like in Venom or Black Adam. Beyond that, Super Crooks has a really fun approach to superhero worldbuilding along with excellent animation and music provided by Towa Tei. Johnny should have never cut his beard though.

Tries to be Redline with some success, although it feels too short for its own good. If it were double its length, I could imagine it being a 10/10. As it stands, it mostly feels like Redline but without the memorable side-characters. The animation is excellent and full of character, the vehicles are 3D but integrate very well into their environment. It almost feels like a trailer for a more interesting series.

I'm shocked by how much better this is than Gunbuster

Overrated in my opinion, I'm frankly not entirely sure what this anime did to earn its place as one of the quintessential Mecha anime, which is how most people seem to treat it. It was solid all around, but unnotable (to me) bar its excellent last episode.

Weird that this OVA invented Halo. Otherwise pretty unnoteworthy.

Watched this because it looked like Dirty Pair. It's weird, the main girls look very similar to Kei and Yuri, and their wrestling themed, which Dirty Pair also kind-sorta was. Yet it's not connected in any way, doesn't have any staff in common with DP as far as I can tell. That aside. it's boring and has nothing much of note besides the aforementioned DP similarities.

Just watch Dirty Pair, or that wrestling episode from Outlaw Star.

Excellent battle shounen, one of the finer examples of the genre. Or at least that's what I'd say if it ended after the tournament saga. As it stands, it's still a great battle shounen.
