A stoic cool-faced and rather listless owners and a 'pet' with high intelligence able to write the human language, with everyday antics between the owner and pet as they enjoy each day in peaceful coziness and amusing happenings, both show will leave you feeling relaxed in how wholesome they can be. Biggest difference and also similarity is that one has a fantastical mushroom turned to mascot looking dog and the other has a tanuki which MC believes is a dog. Also AtKt is more just a general wholesome slice of life whereas Kinokoinu also touches upon overcoming grief.

Super chill and relaxing. The music is soothing, and the episodes are all about simple, heartwarming slice of life moments. It’s not about camping or cooking but with a kuudere MC who loves being alone that ends up learning to hang out with friends too.

-both slice-of-life series about people who seem colder/ less approachable on the outside but are indeed very wholesome inside. -similar styles of humor, absurd yet within the context of everyday life. (Some characters in AmeKimi, like the MC's dad, feel like they came out of Way of the House Husband.) -each series also has a very distinct flavors, AmeKimi is more calm and contemplative (even has a lofi ed) & House Husband has what I can only describe as the " (former) delinquent with a heart of gold contrast"

Very similar shows about a lonely adult woman rescuing an unusually intelligent animal and slowly finding joy in her life. Super comfy vibes with occasional deep feels.

Ame to Kimi to for me hit some spots Aria did. Cute at times, funny at others, a cute pet with uniqueness to it, relaxing and the protagonist has a very likeable group of friends too, in general all the characters are very nice.

Highly intelligent pets that sparks new encounters and everyday fun into the lives of the families they live with, biggest difference is AtKt consists of one lady taking in a tanuk- I mean dog, meanwhile ME a family of a dad, mum, and son takes in an orange cat. Both pets within both shows understands the human language and a big difference too is that ME's cat is first able to speak (especially with the influence of good sake) and later starts to develop interest in writing, whereas AtKt's 'dog' is able to write right off the bat. AtKt definitely leans mainly towards a cozy slice of  read more

When started watching this show I immediately thought of My Roommate is a Cat, due to the following reasons: 1. Both MCs are authors 2. Both stories revolve around them finding a pet 3. Both MCs were lonely before that 4. Both pets seem happy with their new predicaments.

AtKt has a main focus of owner and highly intelligent pet whereas Sketchbook doesn't lean closely to this. However, the cats that are in Sketchbook have their own little society and outside of the human eye they are highly intelligent, able to write on whiteboards tho that aspect was a bit more minor in the whole premise of Sketchbook. Tho their premises are very different with AtKt having a woman who works and Sketchbook is mainly high school students attending school, the animals and pets you see will warm your heart.
