'Kakkou no Iikagen' is the chibi mini specials of Kakkou no Iinazuke, aka 'A Couple of Cuckoos' Season 1.
The main series, Kakkou no Iinazuke (カッコウの許嫁), literally means 'The Cuckoo's Fiancé(e)'. Since 許嫁 can either be male or female, it has been rendered into its English title 'A Couple of Cuckoos.'
The chibi special Kakkou no Iikagen (カッコウのいいかげん) literally means 'Cuckoo's Carelessness' or 'Cuckoo's Nonsense.' It is appropriately named because chibi specials are essentially nonsense but fun.
But I argue that it's not totally nonsense. This is not just our beloved characters from the main series chatting about random stuff. Our characters are isekai'ed, and this functions as
...
a parody of and makes fun of isekai.
It starts out with Erika getting reincarnated to the isekai, but she requests that the other characters, Nagi, Sachi, and Hiro, also be isekai'ed. They now must find a way to get back.
It's just Macromedia Flash Animation, and most of it happens through dialogue, which, in my opinion, is a bit witty. Any action has some basic animation.
This chibi special reinforces the fact that Erika is so much of a bimbo.
Each episode doesn't seem tied to the main series. You can watch it before watching the main series, during, or even after the main series. It is even possible to watch it on its own, even if you don't watch the main series.
The fact that it parodies isekai makes it worth watching.
NOTA BENE: A rating of 5 out of 10 means that 1) I find this anime to be average, 2) I enjoyed it to some extent, but it has some flaws. 3) Or simply, I rank it below my 6's but above my 4's.
A 5 means a passing score. If you're the kind of viewer who treats anything below a 7 as irredeemable, I'd encourage a broader, more nuanced approach to rating.
My enjoyment spectrum lies from 4 to 10. If I have scored an anime below 4, I actively dislike it.
