You will find yaoi, BL, anime with a male cast who act gay and fruity but "aren't" (they were roommates), and anything similar here. It will be a selection of those I can recommend. Be aware that some are 18+. (More will be added from time to time)

This list includes a lot of good quality animes about introverts that I have watched. Most of them are slice of life, drama, psychology genre (a few contain romance, mecha and isekai elements). If you don't like one of these genres, you should skip it for good.

The list mainly consists of anime that focus on the introvert's worldview, often showing their perspective on social, emotional, etc… These series/movies often feature introverted protagonists. or sometimes there will be more than one introverted character. Of course, the anime will carry the characteristics of an a standard introvert: inner monologue, secluded lifestyle, freedom of wandering around. In some duos, there are quite aweard imagniation about the outside world and it's kind of bizzare and mind-blowing as well.

Healthy and/or realistic LGBT representation in anime.

The idea: Listing lesser known movies or at least not wanting to include big studio Ghibli titles, Shinkai, Satoshi Kon or Hosoda movies.
Some of these titles might be more familiar than others. I myself haven‘t watched the first six movies on this list either.

I have to admit tho, I tricked you. I smuggled in one Ghibli movie. One, people nearly ever talk about. It‘s not by Miyazaki but by Takahata: Omoide Poroporo, featuring czech folk music and some magic through its down to earthness.

Basically a Letterboxd vs MAL comparison for 2023.

I've also labelled movies with less than 5k ratings as "niche" so now you can blend in with normal people.

11 (22%) of the movies were produced by Studio Ghibli.

The only entry you wouldn't expect is Comet in Moominvalley.

Shoutout to the bunch of movies I had to remove when I realized I missed a few stuff (Redline and Aria the Benedizione)

This is an interest stack of the most well known/relevant to pop culture anime movies. This will be entirely original movies and not series movies. This isn't about money made but rather about cultural relevance/popularity. This stack is open to suggestions

A stack of anime with interesting artstyles & character designs that I think stand out from the norm or are just iconic enough to be memorable/recognizable.

These are mostly judged based on the way the characters are drawn, not the animation & coloring of the scenes (but those things are also considered if they really give the show a different feel from that alone)

Not included here are chibi/mini-style anime since they're rather common and not really a stand-out artstyle by now. With some exceptions!

The BL anime included are labelled 'uncontroversial', 'partly controversial', 'controversial', and 'bait' to better help you find something to your liking. Those labels mainly refer to how healthy the relationships depicted are, and whether those relationships are explicitly romantic.
