Both shows deal with machine emotions, human greed & war theme along with the consequence of the hatred encapsulated in the tragedies of death in both camps. It shows the reality of how the world works through subtle use of several plot points with the message that robots are created to be like humans although It's a double edged sword that can end the world. Action is above par with deep themes, well written characters & great premise.

The main characters both go through some of the same thing. Both are cybernetic ally enhanced and used as weapons for other peoples purposes. Both animes will be epic and amazing in their own way.

A brown-haired MC who can go super fast fights alongside his allies who have different super powers and abilities. Hamatora has more mystery whereas Cyborg 009 is more adventure-like. Both series, however, have tragic moments and pretty cool fight scenes. If you like super-powered, action anime, give these a shot.

If you enjoy the 2000's Cyborg 009 TV series and want to see more of the same characters from the same anime/manga, check out Cyborg 009 vs. Devilman. Both have the same cast of main characters and you don't need to see anything Devilman related to watch this crossover because it's a stand alone OVA. If you enjoy one, you should like the other as well.

Cyborg 009 is a remake and reimagining much like what many consider to be the first or most prominent in anime, Giant Robo. They redesigned the characters for modern tastes while retaining a heavily retro aesthetic. Since the director of 009 (CS), Jun Kawagoe, worked with Yasuhiro Imagawa (GR) on another reimagining, Getter Robo Armageddon, all have extremely strong storyboarding making the action easy to follow along with a strong visual impact. Both also centre on melodrama and do not shy away from it.

Similar animation and steampunk action/drama

By the same original creator and with a somewhat similar setting. 009-1 is a more "adult" version of Cyborg 009.

watching Casshern Sins made me remember Cyborg 009.. they both are about saving the world from destruction.. the arts in both anime are very similar.. with a taste of old robot anime.. not only that .. but both main characters Joe in Cyborg 009 and Casshern in Casshern Sins are very similar to each other..

The original mangas for both The Skull Man and Cyborg 009 were created by Shotaro Ishinomori. Joe Shimamura/Cyborg 009 even makes a camero appearence in the Skull Man manga to debate evil with him (since they are the hero and anti-hero interpratations of the same idea at heart). The Skull man is considered a pseudo prequel of Cyborg 009.

Both were initially created by the late great Shotaro Ishinomori. Both are about Androids with somewhat dark tones, namely the loneliness and melancholy mood by being an Android/Cyborg.
