One of the things that make Monogatari a great show it is, is the fact that it never takes itself too seriously, no matter how much depth it reaches. It's quite similar to Mawaru Penguindrum in that matter.
But I do agree that the entire ecchi part of Monogatari is quite unnecessary

Btw, I see you enjoy Zaregoto (Kubikiri Cycle) quite a lot. I haven't seen further than the second episode, cause I'm waiting for the show to be completed. I can't really follow up with one episode per month.
What do you think about it so far?
