Pumpkin Scissors

Both anime are set in fictional world with WWI technology and shows adventures of military unit. 

Monolithic expansionist empires, machine-like armies, and super-special units putting out fires in all regions of the empire are very similar motifs in both of these anime. 

I kind of like to describe Pumpkin Scissors as FMA without the alchemy. I think it's a really underrated series that should be taken a closer look at. Both series are very enjoyable to watch in my opinion, and they also have very similar military themes. Their worlds are pretty close in terms of technology as well. If you enjoyed watching FMA, then I think you'd enjoy Pumpkin Scissors since it does have a certain charm to it. Although I have to add, the ending for this series might let you down. 

Besides sharing the same genre, both have female protagonists working to the future of their respective roles and accomplishing their missions. Although their plots are entirely different, the two series have a fair share of conflicts and purpose that pertains to their respective stories. 

Both have a main character that is extremely powerful and has seen many fights who joins a group of less experienced people. The main character also seems reluctant to display their powers because of the past and they are trying to change from fighting into existing more peacefully with others. 

Both prominently feature curruption and exploitation by nobility. Pumpkin Scissors is set after WW1. It follows a noble, idealistic girl Alice and her small troop set on correcting the world's injustice, to varying effects. The corruption in this series generally runs so deep it's hard to make real progress, tho it is made. The show is only somewhat negative toward the nobility. Moriarty is set in late victorian Britain, and follows an anti-protagonist set on correcting his country's intermal discrimination enabled by class and feudal relations. He's much more effective and morally grey than Alice, helping people commit crimes of vengeance to get rid of privileged scum. This show endeavors to really profoundly sully privileged nobility, showing most of the episodic "targets" as discriminating filth, absolutely disgusted by lower classes. read more 

I believe that both of these anime have a similar feel about them in general and both of the main characters in Pumpkin Scissors and Spice and Wolf also contain a similar feeling. The art work also is similar in parts. Overall one reminded me of the other and I think that if you liked one chances are that you'll like the other. 

The anime have different vibes but one common factor is that both the main characters are women who are of noble origin, that carry around swords who find themselves realizing how evil the nobility really are.  

Both have guns and awsome protagonists. What's not to like, alto Pumpkin Scissors does need a continuation(Season 2) which is unlikely to happen in the near future. 

Negimaki is about a soldier that wants to live idly in peace, while having to fight in a war with his comrades; whereas Pumpkin Scissors is about a group of soldiers that are at the end of a war, and they're trying to make the lives of the citizens waiting to see peace manifested in their daily lives visible.  

Both of these series are set in a post-war era, reminiscent of World War I & II. It shows the struggles of rebuilding after the war, and the horrors of ensuing conflict. In Hellsing and Pumpkin Scissors, Germany becomes a place where professional killers are created. Both Alucard and Oland have a similar way of dealing with violence and war. They both have a mental switch that gets turned on when they are facing danger. Alucard and Oland become crazed killing machines, that surpass the strength of normal humans. Hellsing is darker than Pumpkin Scissors, but they both have the same sort of feeling.  read more

Izetta really reminds me Pumpkin Scissors. Animation and style are very alike. Both series focus on military theme and strong female characters. 

Both series with tremendous potential, but which suffer from abrupt endings. They each have a male-female duo with a good dynamic as protagonists, as well as a mysterious atmosphere and a solid supporting cast. Watch if you enjoy cliffhangers and unresolved plot lines~! 

I could describe Pumpkin Scissors as a pre-cybernetic version of Ghost in the Shell. Both tell a story of a special team which investigates conspiracies and wrong-doings of the military and the goverment and add some social commentary to the mix. The compositions of the teams are also quite similar. Pumpkin Scissors has somewhat more relaxed and silly feeling (more comedy) to it than GitS, so it can serve as a lighter option to it. 

Though the plot are different, it reminds me of the MCs. Alice L. Malvin reminds me the main character of Hanasakeru, Kajika Burnsworth. Both of them are non-stereotyped characters which are easily loved by audience. Their minds are strong and they are straightforward.  

While they have somewhat different settings, i think they share in essence the illustration of inhumane warfare with drastic animation. Jin-Roh takes a more serious and realistic approach, but Pumpkin Scissors can be convincing as well. 

I believe they have a very similar feel to them. Warfare, tragedy, secrets being withheld by superiors, and the overall fight for love and peace.. there's great adventure to be had in each. The musical scores are fantastic, too. (You'll find yourself watching the OP and ED themes more often than not.) Not to mention, Alice (Pumpkin Scissors) resembles Mirepoc (Bantorra) so much it's laughable. Note: Women in power are sexy. :P
