This review is going to be my review of Fate/Zero as a whole, not just the second season.

This show was epic. It was able to create some extremely interesting characters and throw them all together into a battle where they need to interact, have philosophical discussions, and ultimately see whose ideals are the best. The animation of this show is freaking gorgeous. The soundtrack is pretty dece. The characters are great (although there are definitely some weaker ones). So many great things can be said about this show, and I'm sure they have been said many times, so I am going to focus on the things I didn't like.

The first season fails to give the audience (at least in my experience) a character to latch onto. It is not until mid second season, where I think the show went from "good" to "great", that I really started to understand the motivations behind certain characters' beliefs and actions. Other than that, my only complaint about the show is the fact that the story was almost presented in a way that assumes the audience is aware of the different elements in this magical universe already. This became extremely apparent towards the end of the show, when it became increasingly hard to understand. I get that this is a prequel, and many of the viewers already know how it is going to end, but I did not. I think, since "Fate/Stay Unlimited Bladeworks" came out after, they they should have just started over from scratch and assumed their viewers were new to the franchise. Again, this is just my opinion.

Overall, though, Fate/Zero was a fantastic show. It had awesome characters, animation, and dialogue all thrown together in an interesting thought-provoking way. I would definitely recommend it.

Sentence: I look forward to watching "Fate/Stay Unlimited Bladeworks".

Note: After I finished, I went to the internet to try to accumulate my thoughts, and I came across this video talking about the possibly nihilistic stance the show takes. It really helps tie everything in the vast story of the show together into one condensed video-essay. I highly recommend watching it here if you have already finished the show:
