They have similar types of humor and romance. The main characters both trust easily and are often thickest when it comes to matter surrounding themselves. Both these series are cute, funny, lighthearted reads that are a treat fr any shoujo manga fan.

Koukou Debut and Kimi ni Todoke are both romantic, funny, sweet, light hearted and easy to read with a good amount of the normal high school/teenage drama to balance it out. Both manga involve an optimistic girl as the main character that is trying to improve on some aspect in her life who meets a good looking, kind and cool guy along the way along with some new friends.

Looking for a lighthearted romance story? Kimi ni Todoke and Koukou Debut will offer the experience with its colorful cast of characters in a school life setting. There is relationship development between the main characters. In fact, the similarity between the two series involves the main protagonist who happens to be outgoing, popularity, and respectful towards their friends. There is also decent comedy that doesn't exaggerate itself with realistic dialogues involving school life.

In both series, the romance is innocent and pure without any love triangles or dramatic complications. The characters love each other and that's all, they don't change their opinion mid way. Both main characters are quite ignorant about love, although because of different reasons, and this keeps their relationship innocent and lovely. In both series, you know there won't be unpleasant surprises for the couple. You can read relaxed, knowing whatever happens to them, they will always be together.
