Both these shows employ the same premise of a girl hiring a skilled individual in order to collect a number of relics in a fantasy world (fedual Japan with fantasy elements in Katanagatari's case).
A fantasy adventure detailing the journey of main characters. Both series' main characters possesses special abilities and weapons. The main concept details with a quest the characters but on the way faces obstacles and struggles. We also learn more about the main characters such as their past. And as a fantasy series, expect action with swordsplay. If you're looking for an adventurous show with a decent balance of action and humor, give these two a try.
The stories are almost identical!
-Girl has objective but in need of help
-lol both have white hair
-The dudes both have the same kind of attitude
-Their a small group, they meet friends but don't travel with anyone else
-The dude and the girl eventually learn how to love each other
-Dude has powers that are rare and/or unknown and underestimated at times
Same type of plot quest/setup: boy meets girl, girl gets boy to help her collect a set of items important to her with many plot twists along the way. Though with Chaika, there's more recurring characters, and it's not as romantic as Katagatari (though the romance within is played well). Still, a good watch if you're interested in the same general quest.
