Action/military anime with a focus on Earth-atmosphere jet dogfights. The source of drama in the shows comes mostly from two hot-blooded pilots butting heads over a girl they both like, turning their friendship to feud. Really good aerial combat, but the main difference is the jets in Area 88 don’t transform.
