Psychological thriller movies Directed by Satoshi Kon. They both blur the lines between fantasy and reality.

same director(i think), different themes but both interesting strange stories

Both are Satoshi Kon movies. Also if you look at Paprika and Perfect Blue both are very mysterious and deal with the question ''What will happen when dreams/illusions collide with the real world.''

Both are movies by Satoshi Kon and feature a female main character that leaps between reality and fantasy, as part of the character’s job in Paprika and as part of the character’s personal struggle in Perfect Blue. Both movies have seemingly nonsensical plots with plot twists. Since Perfect Blue was made almost a decade before Paprika, it does look and sound more dated, technically and content-wise.

Both are Madhouse, Satoshi Kon films with a female protagonist in which the audience is manipulates to question what is really happening and what is just in someones head until the audience is bonded to the characters in that they are just as in the dark as they are.

Both are great psychological/horror movies directed by Satoshi Kon. The dark but realistic style Kon is known for really comes to show and it works great with both these interesting stories with include delusions, mystery and many exciting moments. Before you know it, you'll be sitting on the edge of your seat!

Both "Paprika" and "Perfect Blue" have quite deep symbolism and surrealism. However "Paprika" is much more higher all the way and in any aspect, in my opinion. I like how "Paprika" concentrates in itself all of Satoshi Kon favorite images and themes: 1) Like an escape from reality into a world of illusion 2) The devastating consequences of the invasion of illusion into reality and getting rid of these illusions 3) The sudden realization that the difficulties can be overcome, but turned to face them 4) Detective story filled with riddles and symbols 5) Surrealist paintings of collective and individual insanity 6) Adult man tired and lost in his past 7)   read more

Both have an adult woman as a protagonist and the plot starts thanks to their occupation (scientist(idol). The protagonist gets involved with something that starts to largely incovenience her whole life, mixing dreams/delusions with reality - confusing not only the protagonist, but also the viewer who has to figure out which parts are really happening in the reality of the story and which aren't. Both directed by same person.

Both are anime movies directed by Satoshi Kon, and therefore, they have similar art and character designs. The plots of both anime have surreal elements, blurring the line between reality and reams, and character struggling with their identity.

Twisted picture of the reality and playing with a viewer's perception. Apart from that movies don't really have much in common, but both are ofcourse very decent.

A great touch of dementia, both main characters have a reality and a fantasy world. Directed by Satoshi Kon, really good movies.

If you enjoyed Paprika, chances are you'll also appreciate Perfect Blue because both anime films exhibit a certain level of madness, as if they were written and directed by a surrealist painter like Salvador Dali. If you enjoy a surrealistic train of thought, both works are captivating choices. Their unique narratives and mind-bending storytelling will leave you intrigued and immersed in their bizarre worlds.

Complicated For complicated Paprika and Perfect Blue have the same level, maybe because the author is the same person. Complications appear at the beginning of the climax and even to the end of the story. Character Development Another similarity, the two characters initially did not expect this to happen. Similarity of Character The two also have their other selves, Mima-rin with her Idol and Paprika with Atsuko.

Both are dementia, psychological themed movies which will make you jump on the edge of your seat. You will definitely be on the last part before you understand what's going on. Even though they're dementia movies, both have a happy ending.

Go for it if you basically want to get mind f*cked. They both are made by same director and have lots of similarities like Psychological theme, female protagonist and adult cast... Plot is filled with lots of complexities and at the end, it's upto the viewer to presume what exactly happened.

both are by director Satoshi Kon, so you'll probably like it. Having a psychological content, the two films manage to confuse and arrest you from beginning to end, leaving more questions open than providing answers.
