Both anime are about a town being attacked by giant, non-human creatures that humanity didn't originally have the technology to fight. The Titans in Shingeki no Kyojin are like the Neighbors in World Trigger, and the Scouting Legion is like Border.

They are both about gigantic enemies who appear one day and starts destroying the world.
A new technology is used in order to defeat these new enemies.
A defense force defending from large monsters. The main difference coming from one being fantasy (Shingeki no Kyojin) vs the other being sci-fi (World Trigger) and how that effects the mechanics of how the monsters appear.

They share a common thing where people fight threats as well do they use weapons. The difference is that Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) is more intense plus survival war oriented and fantasy related with a focus on monsters known as Titans while in World Trigger, the characters go on missions to battle Neighbors whom are on the other hand futuristic, but both creatures are still non-humans. Overall, I’d say that World Trigger resembles with AOT in some ways albeit different.
