Both stories that blend together fantasy and the everyday with perfection. Tsuritama goes a more Science fiction route while The Eccentric Family involves yokai, but both are sure to please with their easy attitude, great characterization, wonderful fantasy and expert story-telling that gives both anime that little something extra.

The moods and art styles in these two shows are very similar. Super colorful and vibrant backgrounds, artistic direction that is instantly identifiable, and characters that blend into these spaces wonderfully. Lots of similar story themes regarding overcoming personal weakness and dealing with the past. They are also both very goofy, and require you to allow them to take you for a ride if you want to get the most out of them. Despite this goofiness, their worlds and stories are very believable within their own contexts.

VERY different stories but it gives off the same light-hearted vibes about friends and family relationships. With minimal comedy, both starts off with confusing first to second episodes. You'll probably get story after the fifth episode or so but hang in there. Both are actually good. In addition, they almost have the same texturing and animation style.

Both are based around a supernatural story drawing on Japanese folklore, and combine it with lighthearted slice of life that lets you get to know their eccentric casts and the interesting (real) places where they live. They main theme of both is the importance of family and friends, and they have remarkably similar, colourful art styles.
