Oh, totally love Pokemon for nostalgia value. If there's anything about myself I'm grateful for, it's my childhood years and being born in this era.

Yes, I picked each for the precise reason that they annoy me. I generally don't like what other people like, so it's normal that I dislike beloved characters. Curiously enough, the anime character I detest the second most is THE MOST favourited character on MAL.

Tate: he is annoying, has no personality, is a perv, emotionally blackmails girls, takes advantage of them and uses them and then acts as though he has been wronged when he gets screwed over due to his own doing.

Near: he annoyed me more than L. I also love Light, so I by default don't like anyone who stood in his way or wasn't useful to him.

Hideki: perv, annoying, wants to have sex with a robot, harem lead, bland, brown hair annoying boring.

Syaoran: he has nooo personality. And I dislike CLAMP and their male characters especially, since none have interesting qualities expect being shoujo fanservice fodder.

The rest are just irritating, though I hated Gendo Ikari for being an asshole.

Actually, a lot of people were ready to bring their guns and shields when they saw the title for that post. And then they read it and saw that, no, it wasn't so much ranting for or against a particular side, but criticism about them both.

I don't really understand the yaoi fangirls' perspective on yaoi. I don't think I fit into the fandom well.

I spoke to one, for example, and she mentioned something about "hot sex between bishies" and I actually was taken aback. I thought, well yes, good sex scenes are pretty nice, but is that all you're reading yaoi for??

What about the characters? A plot? Story? It seems I look for different things in it than other people do. What I want is a good story and developed characters. Whether they spend the entire manga or anime doing it or not doing it at all is not important to me--what's the storyline behind it? What are their personalities like?

In short, I would like yaoi that isn't fan pandering but existed for itself just as any other manga from any other genre would. But it seems that most of the fans I encounter just want to see guys getting it on :\
