Oh yes...I feel sorry for her even more. Prior to finding out, I just thought she was just a really arrogant young girl who like to boast that she's really older when she looks so young. Now that I know...I feel really bad for her.
I've watched the anime episode of the part and, it's something to be frank (and a bit cliche; when he did the surgery, a thunderstorm was going on ala Frankstein lol).

Perspective changes probably aren't the problem for me, just needs more balance. Hate it when a good character's progress stagnates, but I'm only on volume 4 so we'll see how it goes.
You know where I think the perspective change hurt the story? Baccano. Couldn't bring myself to care about any of the characters with the screen time divvied up between so many, too hectic for me.
