omGGGG Just finished watching Ef- A Tale Of Memories and wow. This anime is CRAZY good. Far above any romance i've ever watched..the last 2 episodes were VERYYYY well done. I don't think i've cried to an anime that hard in a loooong time.. Thank you. :3.
1 question though. Watsup with Hirono saying he loves BOTH Kei & Miyako??? She's telling him that she wants to be with him, and he says he wants to as well...but then the phone call from Miyako comes up and he ends up with her??? I don't get it? Did he mean to say that he only wants to be bro-sis relationship?? ;S. . Also. is the prequel Tale of Meldodies worth watching??:P

Beelzebub- Just wrote a comment about your blog post last night :).
Freezing- hmm this anime was interesting. It's VERY ecchi, & the plot seems overcomplicated. It's very similar to Infiinte Stratos (girls>guys) but with more gore, minus mech suits. There's WAY too many up-skirt angles and it just makes me feel like a pervert LOL xD. Not only that, but this anime is uncensored. I'm kinda disappointed in this anime, it's leaning more towards ecchi moments rather than explaining the plot. The action scenes were entertaining, but the anime is still lacking a hook. I honestly feel i'll be forcing myself to watch the next episode lol. Watch it and tell me what you think!!!

Watched the first episode of Ef - A Tale of Memories and wow. This anime looks amazing. I have a feeling this series is like 'Hatsukoi Limited' where everyone is related through love triangles xD. Very interesting anime! Thx! Lol ima start watching this 2day ;3 I was also surprised this was made by Shaft. They have their 'Shaft' trippy moments, but it's not over the top. It really fits in ;).
DEIMOSLOL Jan 8, 2011 1:44 AM
Yea. Infinite Stratos is your typical harem. It has the mech/gundam aspect but it's still a predictable harem. Idk why but half way through I just kept watching it even though I was predicting what's going to eventually happen next xD.

Kimi Ni Todoke is definately worth watching. Though the ending is very disappointing, the build up and love triangle is very compelling.

As for Rio: Rainbow Gate!... it's really up to you xD!! Very challenging to review this, as the plot-holes are beyond comprehension. Lol. I really don't know if i'm going to continue on with this anime, but #1 rule about watching anime: "Atleast watch the first episode!" :D.

If you haven't read the Berserk manga yet, you NEED to read it. I feel like a missionary trying to convert someone but it's honestly a must read. Manga isn't exactly my taste, but I was curious what the top manga was rated on MAL. Checked it out and found Berserk. The story is just pure amazing, and I really can't w8 for the new anime. I'm not going to bother with the original anime as I watched the first episode and realized it didn't follow the manga accurately. It was also low budget and the animation/artwork/voice acting sucked dick.

Hmmm Toradora. I think I dropped it cuz I was trying to find a new anime to watch fast out of a choice of like 10. When it comes to artwork i'm VERY picky, and I guess Toradora didn't fit in ;3. BUT i'll be sure to watch atleast the first episode :)!

Time to go to sleep! I'll be looking forward to tomorrow's blog post. !

Similar with XTApocalypse, I very much disliked Brotherhood, particularly because of its pacing. The original Fullmetal Alchemist series deviated from the manga and became something special because of it. Brotherhood, on the other hand is very identical to the manga, but has some problems that greatly hinder it.

As you mentioned, its pacing is very inconsistent. The breakneck speeds at which the series starts out literally cripples the series and chains its potential. Its downright unforgivable. Yes the previous anime and manga were both very popular, but the series assumes you're already familiar with one or the other. This is a very, very bad thing for the series. It wants to blast through the originally tread ground as fast as possible. No one is given a chance to breathe as characters, they just come in, do their scenes and move onto the next. Because of this, FMA:B doesn't hold up on its own. If it can't hold up on its own, its undeserving of being rated a "10."

A good example is the first episode. It doesn't establish any of the characters. It just assumes you already know about them and care about them from either the manga or the original anime and that you'll squeal for joy when you see them onscreen doing stuff.

I do also feel that they went out of their way to kill any drama during key scenes with really inappropriate and out of place humor.

I personally like to think of the original FMA's concept of alchemy to be more thought-out and feasible than even the medieval science of alchemy in our world. I know that the latter is the more culturally rooted of the two, but I still think that Fullmetal Alchemist did a better job of explaining itself than superstition ever did. The fact that the original anime literally crossed into our world was in large part what awed me about the series... they had taken something so exaggerated and fictional and introduced it opposite our own world of physics in such a way that one literally can't prove that it never happened. It didn't, of course, but I think you understand what I'm saying. Brotherhood - or at least from what I've heard - just eliminated that. It's just another fictional story in its own little isolated fairy tale world.

On the subject of realism, the original series felt more consistent to me, too... like the creators genuinely cared, put the utmost thought into every line, every word... every detail of the series. Everything had an explanation that melded into everything else that had happened or would happen. Brotherhood, it feels (to me) like they went through the series repeatedly telling themselves not to think about it too much because that was what bothered people about the first series. I know it's a cheap shot, but once again I'll use my Monopoly guy example... the Silver Alchemist that Scar killed. Sure, he's a bit character, but that doesn't explain how he can magically fly through the air or rotate at 300rpm. It falls into my "free pass outside the laws of physics category", and that really hurts a series to me. It doesn't have a predefined set of physics that gives the series the sense of realism... of "boundary" that the original FMA had.
XTApocalypse Nov 7, 2010 2:16 AM
Sorry. That was rude of me. I just get sick of being in the minority, I suppose.

Suffice it to say that I disagree with your point that Brotherhood is "superior to the original in every facet," though. I also appreciate the fact that you acknowledge the existence of the Shift key - it's a rare blessing to come across these days. You're certainly a better (or at least more respectful) writer than most.
XTApocalypse Nov 7, 2010 1:56 AM
Congratulations. You officially have no taste whatsoever. Brotherhood was the abortion of the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise... and I mean that quite literally. People complained that the first anime was too serious and dramatic, ergo, they removed anything that could possibly make you take Brotherhood the least bit seriously from the show. One, two, three... you have a duplicate of every generic shonen anime ever conceived. Complete with horribly out-of-place gags, static and overgenericized characters, and inexplicably flying Monopoly guys.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
