That is pretty damn cool actually :). Yeah I actually picked up FUDP from the 20+ club mixtape project over here on MAL, been listening to it a bunch recently, great song.

You seem to have pretty good taste yourself (well duh, we wouldn't have high compat without it), good to see more people with sense around on MAL.

Helo :D About Spice and Wolf II,I think it ended quite nicely but I'm really hoping for there to be a season 3 since there are still a lot of volumes they haven't animated yet but it's been 3 years and my hope is well lost :/

Watch Steins;Gate.

Higurashi - I love this anime for a few reasons.
1.It is different, and by different I meant in terms of gore and suspense
2.I like anime that fills my mind with fuck, and it managed to do just that,I was itching to watch the next episode not knowing why all of it was happening. The second season has way less gore and explains why the incidents occurred in season 1,in a simple way.

Detroit Metal City - \m/

Honey and Clover - Fantastic, just fantastic. The characters stood out the most, and the OST is just so moving,so sad,and happy at the same time. I admit the last episode for S2 almost made me cry. T.T

Ichi the Killer - Badass.

The Tatami Galaxy - It's not that I don't like it,but most of the time I rate an anime a 6 is because nothing surprised me/it didn't match up to my expectations. For me,a 6 is an 'okay' score. I usually rate an anime based on how much my emotions were affected (e.x.sadness,laughter,suspense).

Voices of A Distant Star - Couldn't really feel much emotion from such a short film :/

Gyo - Terrible, might not give the manga a shot

"A few too many lists on this site have dreadful colours and a transparent table with a screenshot as the background that forces me to highlight everything in order to read it. :/"

So very true. It's as if they don't realize or just don't care that most humans can't read text that's the same color as the background.

"In all likelihood, I'll spend a week when I'm free to write up a bit more, at least for my absolute favorites and the things that I couldn't stand."

Your typing speed may vary, but I've found it takes maybe 10 or 20 minutes to write a few hundred words about a show. You're already forming thoughts and opinions about the show while watching it, so the rest is just turning those into fluent sentences. It takes a bit more if you want to get more in-depth, but you probably shouldn't need to dedicate a week to it.

"In general, I try not to go on about the positives of a series that is widely regarded as positive (or the negatives of a series that is widely regarded as negative), because somebody has said it and has said it better than I will."

Well, it's not so much about offering a unique perspective (it's not like Cowboy Bebop hasn't been praised before) as it is about explaining what you personally felt, even if it's a common perspective. Additionally, your praises for Trigun are not the only ones I've seen, and the notion that you'd agree with all of those other people's reasons is suspect at best. It doesn't have to be revolutionary, just something a bit more exact.

That, and in the process of thinking about a series to write a comment, it gets you to stop and consider every facet of it and realize strengths and faults you might've glossed over. (It's also fun, but not everyone would share that feeling.)

"You really should. It's a wonderful series."

It did seem very interesting, but you know how it is. You stop to take a break and watch something else, and then suddenly days turn into weeks turn into months. I've heard the ending isn't that great, though. But that's just one blogger's opinion.

"[Yu-Gi-Oh]"

Ah, so it's a matter of being bad in the context of the franchise? The tag didn't quite explain that point, so I'm afraid I didn't understand the context of the score. All of those details might not fit in the tags section, but thankfully that's what the comment field is for.

"[background noise]"

As someone who has seen more Food Network and King of the Hill than seems reasonable for exactly the same reason, your explanation makes perfect sense. Although I'm still curious why you wouldn't change to a different channel for that stretch of time.

"I found every time they had to have the characters move much at all outside of the action scenes, the style jumped into a cartoonish style, with spaghetti arms and two frames of looping animation throughout."

I watched through the first episode again, and that seemed to hold true of Excel's idle background actions that were just meant to demonstrate her constant hyperactivity, but the rest, while not a showcase of innovation, seemed thoroughly average and suitable for its purposes.. Well, to each their own, of course.

"I'll free up a weekend and get back to you. :p"

You poor, naive soul.

Well, if you're watching my "worst thing ever," I feel it's only fair if I watch your "worst thing ever" in solidarity. (It was already on my PTW list, but I digress.)

["Old anime"]

As someone born in the same year who watched much of the same anime and also started in the early 2000s, it's a familiar tale. But being year agnostic has its perks. One way to avoid what you've described is to schedule yourself to watch shows in an order. Otherwise you just have a copy of Dirty Pair or Video Girl Ai sitting around on your harddrive forever, taunting you. Of course, the difficult part is actually sticking to that schedule.

Hey there!

Thank you for commenting on my fav characters and following the rules...

I know it might sound weird but I'm kindda a rules follower lol.

Also...I have to say...your comment w/ your ex-bf and Ban cracked me up :3

I'd like to give my $0.02 on what you said about my 5's and lower :)

Yeah if i was scoring in a technical sense, those anime would have recieved a different score. But all my scores are based on enjoyment, story, and characters.
If i scored all the 'pretty' anime, my scores would avg to like a 9.3 or something. Which is the mal avg. Which is a problem with the mal scoring, since most people rate anything they like a 7 and most people only watch things they like. I'm one of the few people who's willing to sit through an average anime and enjoy it.

Just a quick comment about your comment on my comments in the 5 and under thread (uhh... lol)

Anyways, the thing I have about anime with particularly large casts, especially negima (this is also a flaw of the manga, not just the anime), is that... creating that many characters really gives you no time to draw any of them out. Instead you get a series of stories where you lightly touch on one character trait of a particular character, overcome maybe one flaw... and then forget about that character. Its just not as well done, I find, as just working on a few characters and really bringing out their personality.

Also I really hate akamatsu's image of an "ideal" man and woman but I digress.

Yeah, I much prefer the dub over the original Japanese in the case of Princess Tutu. The Japanese voice for Duck (or Ahiru as it would be in Japanese) just doesn't quite have the charm of the English. Not to say the Japanese was bad, but the English track is better here.

I had a feeling Sakura Taisen was really big... but yeah, oddly enough i have never met a fan of it. And it is popular enough to be one of the few anime in my local public library, but then again so is Love Hina, and I hate that too. I might have been harsh because I was forced to watch the god-awful dub because the disks I had were damaged and the subs kept skipping. Still don't think I'm going to be a fan or anything, I honestly found the story and characters bland and boring, but watching the original Japanese might improve my opinion a little.

Just responding to what you posted on the "comment on the list above you" thread.

Yeah, Tiger and Bunny is pretty awesome, and Kotetsu's one of my new favorite characters.

Well, one of my friends really didn't like Utena so... I didn't have high expectations. Though, that same friend recommended Gantz, which wasn't that great, and as it turns out only watched the first few episodes of Utena so I decided to try it out. Glad I did.

Glad some of my 10s caught your eye, some really unappreciated anime there.

Yeah, Red Garden was a good show. The drama kind of overtook the horror and supernatural parts though, and they suffered for that. Oh, I don't know if you watched the OVA, but if you haven't... it's best you avoid it.

Hm... just wondering why don't you think Princess Tutu deserves a 10? And, I actually never talked with a Sakura Taisen fan before, so I'm curious as to what you saw in it.

Lotus97 | 05-30-11, 7:24 AM
Eight drafts? Yeah, it's cool when you're in the habit of writing everyday or at least regularly ideas just come to you. I'm sort of on hiatus right now and I'm not having nearly as ideas now.

Congrats on your upcoming marriage! I'd also like to write a fantasy novel, although I haven't gotten very far. I started working on one, but it's been delayed, my main character is my profile picture. How's yours coming along?

Hope you enjoy your stay, feel free to say hi
