That's true, but I think that the main theme is more about frienship than supernatural things. I think you should try some episodes, like you said, and see if you like it or not ;)

You really must watch air :O it made me cry so much, haves the same style as angel beats and clannad. I know many guys who liked both, so im almost certain you will like it too ^^

I really loved After Story, but tbh, I didn't cry ;) Guess I don't have a heart! Well, anyway I was wondering what you thought about the ending?

Oh, and if you liked Clannad, maybe you should give Air and Kanon a try as well? You could also check out Nana, it has really great drama, and Usagi Drop, one of the main themes in that anime is a sort of father daughter relationship, just like in Clannad:AS.
