Also, I think next...you should give Monster a go. It's long, it starts out slow, it's complex for a psychological thriller, more complex than Perfect Blue, but still there isn't much that I have seen that compares.
I think the reason as to why it may not, is because most japanese horror has a kind of eerie creepiness to it when it comes to anime, and Mirai Nikki doesn't really have that. It's just straight up horror insanity.
It just reminds me of if the anime Eden of the East and the live action movie Audition had a baby. It's just Yuno doesn't make you say "Dear God, that girl is fucking evil!"
In my opinion, she makes me say "Damn, that girl is hella violent, cute, and pretty evil...but not really shockingly evil." (if that makes any sense at all...)
Funny enough, the one anime that I keep looking forward to see is Showa Monogatari.
No lolis, no magical lolis, no beamfests, no swift and blinding violence, no mecha...just a nice story about what Japan looked like in 1964.
I love the "leisurely walk" segments at the end of each episode.
Weird, I logged in again, and the reply isn't there.
Well...let me try again.
I like Mirai Nikki so far. It's nuts.
Also, I am really...really liking Another. The pace is slow, and that might be the only thing that turns you off to it, but when it gets into it, it gets into it, then it kind of slows down again.
I like it. It's nuts. Seriously...it's nuts. It's almost like a mixture of Battle Royale and Audition rolled into one. I'll admit, you will want to punch the crap out of Yukkii because he's so wishy-washy...but Yuno makes up for it. She's like...Girlfriend of the Century.
