Ive been finding that the music for the sports animes are generally top notch and do what they are supposed to do 'pump you up'. I think atm, i might try to watch other sports ones and watch more in that genre, especially slam dunk. heard so many good things about it

I was gonna say if you interested in a particular genre, i can always be there to give you a recommendation if you need one.

Also wanted to add, i find that im enjoying a lot of the sports ones. I dont know i think its just me enjoying it reliving all the hours i put into my own sport that I enjoy it or find it nostalgic. but even sports like baseball and american football, i couldnt care less but the animes i love. do you watch many sports animes?

Well most of the long running ones are for kids/teens (shounen) so because of this, a lot of it is cliche and generally when this happens, no main character either dies or some how miraculously win. Bleach is one good example. While you are watching some of he darker shows and you know even the main characters isnt safe etc. I love berserk but its more of a niche kind of viewer. It disappoints the viewer in the end where you feel that you need to read the manga afterwards to understand it more. The movies are quite good, though I probably would still prefer the show. Monster isnt my cup of tea when it comes to favourites but man, its story and background blows the shit out of 99.5% of other shows. I find that the art in Monster is perfect for it, the characters actually look japanese or german etc. not some glossy blue haired or red haird charcter while being japanese etc. Monster has a lot of character as when you feel they arent that important their relevance will be bought up later in the show. Naruto is pretty much the only big shounen now i havent gotten into.

Must have watched quite a few more long series, you have a lot of days on me despite seeing fewer shows. Yeah i agree with rainbow. There was pretty much 1 problem i had with it. Yeah, all the darker ones i manage to watch, are quite distanced apart and arent as cliche. Berserk is another one, though i need to get around to the manga but the series is excellent despite its flaws at the end of the series. If only they had a long running series of berserk. It would be such a good long running seinen like monster.

Nah i love watching it, but if it doesnt amaze me but i dont mind watching it, it generally sits around a 5 or 6. well, i think your more a a shounen guy then me or u watch more longer series but i watch quite a bit of romcoms and that and i enjoy watching them but i see whats gonna happen. Rainbow was such a serious anime and I liked it and had that darker feel to it. I enjoy watching them but i gotta watch something lighter afterwards. Cant leave those depressing feels. The plot is quite different and its not what you normally see. I dunno going by MAL standards im coming up 300 series soon. I find that I find the darker series better, though i dont watch as much of it as some light hearted shows.

Also i skipped all the filler in one piece, even if its a couple of episodes here and there. though might need to go back and watch the ones for the one piece z movie. Also that last bit, i realised it sounded wrong. I love anime but most of the time i finish all the ones that i do dislike, like modaka magica and natsume. I enjoy a lot of anime, but after seeing quite a few you can pick up whats going to happen next. but sometimes you can find gems that arent as popular such as Rainbow.

well yeah i read about 15ish volumes of one piece. so a decent amount. i just found that once you get over that hump in one piece its really good though i found that there are a couple of really big humps. that hump in reborn was only the first 20 episodes. but i originally found the manga of reborn in my library and found it weird with the arcobaleno but it made sense later, i watched all of reborn. the first 20 eps were slow but not bad, unlike what a lot of people said. i generally watch shows til the nitty gritty end even if i dont like them most of the time.

Well, originally i stayed away from one piece, watching first 30ish eps. then im like ok this is no where near as good as bleach and reborn for me ill stop it. then i found the manga at it was alright i enjoyed it more so. But the biggest thing that got me into one piece was i lived in japan for 9 weeks and i saw how massive it was, and my friend praised it. I would say my biggest beef originally with one piece is i didnt like luffy or usopp. now i dont mind them but i find there are better characters. Once i was japan i respected it a bit more, i just found, read manga for boring bits, and good bits watch the anime. as it is really streched out. a chapter an episode is too stretched out. though its strength is that there is no filler, except for a couple of episodes.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule, but generally i've found if someone is not enjoying a significant portion of an anime (in the case of One Piece) the first, say, 30 episodes, they will in most cases not push on.

If I didn't enjoy One Piece after the first 30 episodes, I certainly wouldn't risk watching another 70-150 episodes waiting for it to get good, when there is every chance it might still not be good enough for me.
