Yes they do, that annoyed me too, though the rest of the series I liked.

Oh yes, to add to that list, I highly recommend Hunter X Hunter (2011). It's really good.

Alright, here's a list of good anime where not all of the characters are immortal.
- Basilisk
- Cowboy Bebop
- Code Geass
- Grave of the Fireflies (amazing Studio Ghibli film)
- Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
- Psycho Pass (there's the old 22 episode one, and the new extended one where each episode is about an hour, and covers 2 episodes at a time. Either is fine, though the new one is still airing)
- Berserk (there's the old series which is great, and they re-released the Golden Age arc in three films, so you could watch either and have the same story.)
- Jigoku Shoujo (there are 3 seasons total. I've only seen the first one and it was pretty good).
- Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (only read some of the manga, but pretty good story. I'm assuming the anime and it's sequels follow the manga)
- Clannad: After Story (The original Clannad was great, and the sequel was also great)

This should be enough for a decent start.

Lol yeah, Attack on Titan was really good, and follows the manga pretty well. They're supposed to be working on season 2. Give me a bit and I'll see what I can come up with.

That reminds me, with each season, I pretty much watch everything (the exception being any sequels I've not seen the first part of), so if you need any suggestions, just let me know what genres you like, and I'd be glad to get you suggestions.

Nah, you're not weird. Personally, I'm not a fan of the new season, and I thought the original season was only okay. I like Log Horizon more.
