Same here. They are trying to mellow what Bokurano did epically in the manga. If he was gay and can't accept all those harsh stuff in the original why the hell did he even tried to make an anime for it. It should've been taken up by some other guy instead.
About Nakama's... Nah don't worry I'm pretty not everyone liked her story haha. I guess you may say I'm inclined her subtlety.

For me it was the perfect ending. I'd like to say he is an idiot lol. Thanks to him Daiichi and Nakama's stories were boring in the anime. Those 2 were my fave pilots along with Moji.
