It's much better than the anime and it has its fair share of flaws (don't expect Cecily to do much, though she's at least smarter and more capable); I'd say the manga is worth reading.
There's some silly plot developments and one obvious retcon, but you'll probably think it's for the better (or not).
I don't really consider ~30 odd chapters a serious investment so you can take my word with a grain of salt.

Baka to Test's supporting characters were pretty good overall. Kubo moe.

The MC is usually a blank slate for the audience to project themselves onto.
When your target audience consists of herbivores, it's obvious what you gotta do to sell.
I very much appreciate an MC with balls and a libido.

The order isn't shuffled or anything. Just some skipped chapters is all.
Harems are a man's romance. Of course I'm in agreement with others in that harems can be generic and crappy, etc. and I also dislike non-endings, but I just can't say no to harems.

They actually really dragged it out. They took out some early chapters so they could have Rika and Yukimura join in and do stuff sooner. This ended up offsetting the ratio and making more video game and beach/pool episodes than one season really needed.
The drama was also ramped up.
Depending on what they choose to include in S2, there will definitely be more shipworthy moments. Though, true harem end is best end.

Plus is sort of a "what if" story. It's obviously not "faithful" since it's an alternate set of events, but the characters do share their personalities. It's only two volumes so expect a (very) compressed story. If you like the series and want more Sena and Yozora by all means check out the spinoffs.

That's one of the traits of the series. Everyone denies what they are, but they're clearly everything they deny. (Kodaka enjoys delinquent manga, dresses funny, talks different, etc.)
The thing about this is Yozora and Sena still act like playground children. Yozora and Sena are definitely friends. There's no denying it. They like each other as friends and have an unhealthy obsession over their rivalry. They come quite close to admitting it all the time; the only thing stopping them is their tsundere attitude towards the other.
Yozora (if it wasn't already obvious) doesn't exactly have a good relationship with riajuu (people who live fulfilling lives). She sees Sena as this. Sena has money, manslaves, good grades, and most anything she asks for. Yozora can't beat Sena at any of these. She'll never admit that. She uses the one thing she can beat her at to put Sena back in her place, as Sena always brags. The anime doesn't show it as much, but Sena starts shit all the time.
If you decide to finish the series and perhaps read the LN and manga I'll have more to bring up without spoiling it. It's better for one to read things firsthand anyways.

Yeah, I noticed that there's often some role reversal/dominance going on.
That's kinda the appeal, though. The dude doesn't have to do jack and he gets chicks.
It's the dream of man.
