About Syunikiss
★About Me★

I'm Elly, I turn 26 in May. I'm currently attached to the hip of my significant other, Chris, and have been for 6 years and counting ♥. I've been a fan of anime since the mid 90's. My first anime was G-force/Gatchaman.

To pass time I game, watch anime, occasionally read manga and books. You can find me on Steam or World of Warcraft almost all day. Just message me if you play WoW and want to meet up in game ^^. I also play Left 4 Dead, Elder Scrolls games like Skyrim, and Pokemon. I also love Magic: The Gathering. I play the online Duels of The Planeswalkers too. If I'm not playing Magic I play the World of Warcraft tcg. I also love anime conventions. I've been to Megacon, Metrocon, Otakon, and Jacon.

I listen to lots of different kinds of music. Heavy metal, jazz, j-rock, j-pop, techno, classical, and I'm always looking for new music. Visit my Last.fm page if you'd like to see what bands I listen to.

I originally joined MAL to keep an updated list on what I've seen, but I won't say no to making new friends. Feel free to message me if we share interests/anime. ♥=(^-^)=♥

★My anime tastes★

I enjoy almost every genre of anime except sports. I particularly love mystery, action, horror, romance, drama, slice of life, seinen, josei, supernatural and yuri. Any combination of those work too. I read manga of the same genres. Take a look at my anime list and if you don't see something you enjoyed, recommend it to me! ^-^

I guess it's one of those series that you need to see in its entirety in order to understand the purpose of these "filler" episodes. Hopefully that's the case. Again, I go back to the Aria series. Much of what you watch initially will come off as pointless or uneventful, but once you finish the last episode you then realize how each episode that preceded it was valuable and necessary.

You know? I actually think I would watch a Shounen-Ai version of Maria-sama, considering there's one out there. Dead serious.

Interesting. I actually like the ultra-slow pace. It flows much better at 50+ mins than at the regular 22 min/episode format. The production was stepped up quite a bit too, and it's nice to be able to delve more into the backgrounds of the characters, especially Yumi and Sachiko. Not to mention, the supporting cast received more screen time while new additions like Kanako were incorporated into the lineup. I think the most important thing I took out of this OVA (so far) was that those funny facial expressions of Yumi run in the family, as even her brother makes those silly faces. But anyway, everything should make for a nice setup going into the 4th season.

Sure, there's not much "action" going on and there are times where things can become a little too melodramatic, but I am so caught up in the dialogue, drama, and personalities that I could care less. Overall, this series has been worth the watch. Honestly don't recall watching any other anime quite like the Maria-sama series. The only other series I can think of off the top of my head that's as slow as Maria-sama is Aria.

Really? I agree great movie *Smiles* Is the sequel title the same as previous one?

Recently I've been watching Naruto. Weirdly enough I got interested in ninja world :)

Yeah its great when you can get non-anime people to watch and discover they really enjoy it! LOL! He was very wrong!! Here you all many many years later, still a big anime fan!

I love horror and fantasy movies. Today I've seen a movie named "Thing" about alien who was found frozen and research team thought that he was dead, but like always in horror movies he was alive and started killing everyone, movie was creepy but I enjoyed it. I've seen Star Trek and Star wars. Well I'm not very found of Japanese live action movies. I've seen Higurashi live action, but wasn't impressed. Do you like watching TV series? My favorite TV series are Fringe, Vampire Knight, Supernatural.

Nope Vampire Knight manga is still ongoing it's annoying waiting for new chapters, so I understand that you don't like reading ongoing manga.

Yeah, the girl's hairstyle is pretty funky. I also don't like her character either, which kind of sucks as she's voiced by the glorious Rie Kugimiya. Oh well. This was before she graced the roles of Shana and Louise, which I'm assuming is where her popularity really took off. Getting back on track, it's hard to believe Sachiko has a relative like Toko. And yes, I had to look up her name because I couldn't remember it either... So sad.

On second thought, Yumi's expressions wouldn't be half as epic without those pigtails. Poor Yumi getting dragged along like that, completely oblivious to what was going on with Sachiko. I'll admit though. I was kinda pulling for a nice, passionate kiss between Yumi and Sachiko though during that scene at the end. Somewhat disappointed, but that's just good incentive to keep on it. Think I'll get to the OVA soon and probably the final season before the end of this month.

Cool, cool. Thinking about it, I kind of miss the days playing console and online computer games and all of their social and competitive goodness. Maybe the PS4 will mark a return to the good old days. Thing is, I'm the racer-type, so I've been waiting patiently (and endlessly) for something noteworthy to come out, as the top mainstream racing titles nowadays aren't quite cutting it for me.

Heyyy? What's good?

Ummm, yeah. I thought Haru was nice and all. Good to see things get shaken up a bit between Yumi and Sachiko. Maybe a little too much drama, even for the drama fanatic that is me. It's my kind of show though. Slow-paced with some good dialogue and character development. I also really like Shimako a lot. Maybe my new favorite character in the series... And, come to think of it, Yumi should keep her hair down. She looks good like that and seems more mature with that look haha

Funny though how I ended up running into the live-action version of Maria-sama while surfing YouTube. Didn't watch much of it, but it was funny to skip around and see the respective rl versions of each of the girls. I got bored of it pretty fast though.

I haven't exactly caught on to Mouryou no Hako and what's going on with it, but I can definitely say I like it a lot, especially the serious tone and crazy story behind it. Clamp design + Madhouse production is a recipe for success in my book. As for MnH itself, I'd say it requires a bit of thinking/intelligence to understand exactly what is going on. Looks like I'll be reading those damn wiki summaries again to get a better picture of things... Damn my average thinking and slow-mindedness! lmao

Oh that's brilliant! Actually I should do the same and show it to some of my family, it's definitely a good family film and I'm sure they'd enjoy it! (well I won't bother with my mum because she hates all forms of animation, no matter how good the story :P)

Lunaer | 03-08-13, 1:58 PM
Hmmm actually I don't know, but for some weird reason I just can't read many manga chapters, I guess I need sounds. But I can read books for many hours, but recently I'm reading less when I used to do. I don't have free time as I had when I was a student. Mostly I read fantasy and horror books I liked those genres as long as I can remember, that explains why I like horror and fantasy in anime.

Well I wouldn't started reading Vampire Knight manga if anime would have told all story, but because anime was left hanging I decided to check out manga. Yes manga is quite good, I suggest you to check it out. If you liked anime I'm sure you will like manga as well :)

JimJamJamieJoo | 03-07-13, 4:02 PM
I can easily understand why it's one of your favourites, it really was amazing! I was probably boring my friend today because I couldn't stop talking about it, and they don't like anime xD. Okay, I'll go look them up now! :D
