Sahara was a cool character as well. I haven't watched any of the trailers for it yet, so I might check them out.
Also I've started the Planetes manga. The anime was pretty good, so I'll let you know how it goes.
>Yuzuru, she was usually the highlight of any panel she appeared in. What about you?
Oh sweet, another new pick! I absolutely loved Sahara, both her personality and the personal fight she was fighting. Good stuff.
Oh awesome, 150 doesn't sound too bad.
Yuzuru, she was usually the highlight of any panel she appeared in. What about you?
Looking forward to the movie! I'm a bit so-so about much of KyoAni's work (mostly in terms of entertainment value, which is just my taste I suppose; the technical quality of their works is usually fantastic), but it's definitely strong source material.
I wonder what the duration will be? I hope they opt for a longer time to get in some of the side aspects of the story, because some of those side character interactions are absolute gold. Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya was pretty long, so at least there's KyoAni precedent to have a film run as long as necessary to get everything important on screen ahaha.
Aoi should have been in Tokyo Drift with those insane oversteers hahaha. My favourite character was Midori, the friend in college who did all the researching (I can empathise with her). What probably pushed the show into my favourites was how the scene in not-Anno's apartment had couches the colours of Evas 01 and 02. I got a good giggle out of that.
Oh also I did read and finish the Nausicaa manga, it was pretty good. I don't see the movie on your list but the manga is by far the more complete version, if you'd be interested in checking it out. It's basically a post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure; it's got a lot of the good old Miyazaki trademarks and themes as well.
Yeah I have a few mates and people at uni pestering me with recommendations for everything; I'll definitely let you know if I run into anything worth a look.
Ahah I know the feeling, I started gaming again after about a year of not playing much but kinda wanting to. It's been fun, though assessments are picking up again so juggling everything is getting difficult (and getting enough sleep after it all).
Shirobako was fantastic. It managed to pull off both a sincere and slightly absurd approach to the subject matter at the same time, which I really appreciated. I saw a few light criticisms of it before I started about how it just throws the audience in the deep end at the beginning with all the characters and technical industry terms and general hecticness, but I think that was effective because it got me invested and paying attention straight away. I hear PA had more content planned for it, hopefully they can get that in the pipeline and keep the quality up.
I started Koe no Katachi! I read the one-shot and smashed out a few chapters today, it's some pretty heavy stuff early on ahaha. I can definitely see why you're hyped for the movie.
I'm just reading Attack on Titan at the moment but I think I'll do some light research into which other manga are good reads.
