I am from Denmark and I am the 2nd oldest of 4 girls in my family.
I started watching Anime in German (Our TV at the time, only had 2 Danish news channels and then 100+ German channels) around the beginning of 2000 - I was zapping the channels with my sisters one night, and - as I remember - we ended up on the German MTV, where they showed Dragon ball.
And as we tried to find the channel the day after, we discovered the channel RTL2, that showed series like Sailormoon, Wedding Peach, Detective Conan and a lot of other animes.
At that time I was still only in 4th grade, and had not yet gotten lessons in German - so the first year or so, I did not understand much of what was said, but because Anime is so expressive, I could make sense of the overall stories. And after watching for several hours every day, I understood more and more, and I ended up learning German a few years before I even had it in school.
My favorite series was (and still is today) Detective Conan. But I also liked; Sailormoon, Wedding Peach, One Piece, Digimon, Ojamajo Doremi, Kickers, Candidates for Godess and Dragon ball/DBZ. I also watched some Cowboy Bebob and Gohst in the shell when I discovered that they where send on MTV.
Then I also sometimes watched Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, Tsubasa, Power stone, Monster ranger and Oh! my Godess, but I was less into them, so it was more a pass time, while waiting for the other series I enjoyed more.
