I love anime that make you feel something.
It doesn't have to be flawless, doesn't have to tick all the boxes, and it doesn't have to have the best reviews. But it does have to have soul. It needs to feel like it's telling a story that the author is passionate about.
And that's why I prefer stories like "Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojou" over stories like "Chuunibyou". The former sometimes has issues with its execution, but you just know it's a story that will stick with you. Whereas the latter feels like it's made by smart people instead of passionate people. The story's clever, the animation is beautiful, and you can see how everything ties together. But it's not made by someone working throughout the night, forgetting about the time he/she needs to sleep because he's absorbed in his/her own work. It has no soul.
Shirobako is my favorite anime of all time.
