I assign scores based on how much I enjoyed or a series or how compelling it was (or in the case of series I watched long before I joined MAL, how I remember about how I felt about the series), as opposed to a means of serious critique or anything like that. It's also mostly just to give more data to MALgraph.
The scores I give can be pretty generous at times.
